So I took Lord of the Vie's advice and went to go pick up Merrick. Unfortunately, the store didn't have it, but they had The Vampire Armand. I had tried reading this when it first came out and just couldn't get into it. This time around was a much better experience. Although it most definitely was not Anne's best story, I really fell for Amadeo and the love between Marius and him.
When I first posted, I wished to skip the rest of The Vampire Chronicles after Memnoch due to my unsuccessful first attempt with Armand, but I've now decided to read all of them through in order. I really get swept up in the romanticism of her fantasy worlds.

Memnoch the Devil freaked me out...towards the end. I really enjoyed Blood and Gold and The Vampire Lestat and Interview with a Vampire. I haven't read her stuff in a long time.

It looks like they are going to do a vampire episode on Ghost Whisperer! I love both Ann Rice's writing and GW so I thought I'd share. Here is the promo! It looks awesome!

Wow, this brings back memories. I was a huge Anne Rice fan in my teens. I read all the Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witch books in high school. My favorites were The Vampire Lestat and Blood and Gold (because I have a soft spot for Marius). It's sad that the VC got as bad as they did; it was a relief when she finally ended them. But the early books were as good vampire fiction ever gets! (unlike other vamp series...coughtwilightcough)
I also enjoyed Violin because Rice has a very sensual way of portraying music. That was what made The Vampire Armand bearable for me...her constant references back to the Beethoven's magical Appassionata.
Has anyone read her earlier stuff...like the Beauty erotica trilogy?
Her son, Christopher Rice, is also writing novels now. I think his fourth one just came out.
