Hello my name is Tory. I have been since middle school and, just recently, have turned 27 years old. Though I don't get to write as often as I would like to anymore, I am making it a point to work it more into my daily life since it helps to bring me peace and joy. Much like my husband of 8 months and my cat, Buddy, who is one year 4 months. They are my "kids" for the time being. I guess the only other thing that you might really find interesting about me is that I am a nurse in pediatric home health care. I look forward to becoming a part of your community!
My current writing "stats" are as follows: I have completed 2 novels (and am in the process of completing approx 2 more). I have written over 300 poems (most of which of them were written before I graduated high school). I am currently starting 2-3 biography and poetry books that i hope to work on for the next few years and perhaps publish one day. My favorite thing to write is poems.
Hello Tory and welcome to the site. Congratulations on your wedding! A good marriage is a treasure for life, and I wish you and your husband al the happiness in the world (Hi to Buddy the cat, too). Make yourself right at home here. People are friendly, but sometimes so busy that you can't wait for them to talk to you--you have to just insert yourself into a discussion. If you have some writing to share, go right ahead and post it. Be aware that people will be direct (but constructive) in their criticism. That's only meant to help, though, and of course you are free not to listen. Welcome again and please enjoy yourself! :)
Well, my name is Jeremy as you can tell by my user name. I'm 32, with a six year old son that I love more then anything in the world. I'm heavy into video games, I host a weekly video game podcast, which I've been doing almost two years now. I've always enjoyed writing, and for a number of years did just for fun. I spent five years writing for Examiner.com, first doing video game reviews and later video game news. After five years I was pretty much burnt out on writing, but here lately I've been starting to get back into it. I enjoy plenty of movies, but with my work, school, girlfriend and podcast, I don't have much time to watch movies or TV shows. My favorite books include: The Road, No Country for Old Men, First Blood, American Psycho, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and The Taking of Pelham 123.
Hi, I am Wan Xing. As a Chinese I meet few people in real life with who I can discuss world literature freely. I hope things would be different here. Looking forward for great discussions!
Hello. I have been invited to join by my buddy at Military.com Mike Tevion.
Welcome to the site, Jeremy. That's an interesting collection of favorite books. We discuss the ones by Cormac McCarthy on various threads here, but I haven't thought about The Taking of Pelham 123 since I saw the movie back in the 70s (I think). Welcome in any case. Make yourself right at home. :)
Welcome Wan Xing. JBI has a background in Chinese literature, and a some of the rest of us have read some of the classic novels in translation. (Personally, I'm a big Sun Wukong fan). But I look forward to your discussions on any works you like. Welcome again. :)
Welcome Josh. I'm sure you will bring an interesting perspective to the site. Make yourself right at home. :)
First of all, thanks Pensive for creating this thread! I am so pleased to have found the network and by reading about other fellow artists, I feel a lot closer within this online community. Having been raised in no place other than Shakespeare's Home town (Stratford upon Avon), I am a big fan of his work. As a result, I have started a small project which I will need your help for (if that's OK).
I am a business undergraduate at the University of Birmingham (UK) and am currently looking into the usage of social media as an artist. As many of you may be involved in writing prose or poetry (or perhaps even both), I was wondering whether it would be possible to quickly fill out my online survey? Depending on the results I receive, you will hopefully benefit from it in the future (as I will turn it into a long-term project). It does not take long and I can guarantee that your information remains confidential!
This is the link to my survey: https://www.quicksurveys.com/s/Tg43FrD
Thanks for all your help! If you have any further queries, feel free to send me a private message.
