If I had the opportunity and if the need was there...but sometimes I think that our children need to make their own decisions to apply themselves...sometimes we need to let our kids fail...because we all need to know how to fail...in order to succeed.

Probably, yes. I think boys are easier than girls, and I think they can be given a little more leeway. And an ear isn't as bad as the tongue. Tongue "decoration" can destroy the teeth.
