Idril....How great - can't think of anyone better to have playing when a child is born! My own son (who is now 34) and I both love Pink Floyd; we have for a long time. I think actually I got him interested in the group way back when. I used to play them endlessly. He adores them and I feel we have something really special to share. Recently he saw the Australian group live in concert, who sound like Pink Floyd, when he was in CA on a business trip. He said they have played with David Gilmore; they are that good and sound just like PF, lightshow and all. Hope your sons like Flyod, too.
Thanks so much for your compliment on my music taste. I have a huge broad taste in music, and I still try new things, why not? I even like opera! When I picked the songs last night, I was going through itunes that my son downloaded on my hard-drive from his ipod a few years back. I have a ton of music on there and on CD's, as well. In fact I can't find space to store them all. Whatever mood strikes me I play that album. Always have music on.
Wonderful - great song by U2. You have great taste in tunes, too.Quote:
My kids are both still in bed...it's been a loooong weekend...so I am, very quietly, listening to All I Want is You by U2 which I think is one of the greatest love songs ever. I just love the quitar solo towards the end, it only consists of about 3 notes but those 3 notes just kill me.
Here is a soothing song for your kids, hopefully still in dreamland.
Enya's
"On the Shore" from "Watermark".
I agree with Virgil that Blondie is grrrrreat, and has her own agenda (that photo wasn't risque, in my books, just ask Courtney Love...!).
Hi Janine  You indeed have great taste in music!
Right now I am listening to In This Twilight ... Nine Inch Nails
I also want to profess my love of Pink Floyd. They are my favorite band and I have all their albums. Thing is, though, that everyone raves about Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall and Wish You Were Here, but my favorite Floyd Albums are the oft forgotten Animals (the best guitar album ever) and Obscured by Clouds. I am in absolute awe of David Gilmour. As a guitarist myself, he is one of my holy trinity of guitarists that inspire me (the other two are Tony Iommi and John Petrucci).
As far as what's playing now:
The Black Crowes: The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion
Tchaikovsky piano concerto no. 1. It's the Van Cliburn recording so it fortunately will soon be followed by Rachmaninoff's superbly, ridiculously amazing concerto no. 2.
Yeh Kaghzi Phool Jaisay Chayhray - Mehdi Hassan
(WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SONG! I totally feel lost in it!)
Wow! I whole-heartedly agree with you there. There are moments on Animals that when I listen to them, I can barely breathe because Dave's guitar work is just so stunning and I've always thought Obscured by Clouds was one of their most underrated albums, I go through periods where that's all I listen to. Not that their other albums aren't genius but those two are so often left off their 'greatest album' lists and that's a shame. My love of David Gilmour is ledgendary, the man is a guitar god not to menion is beautiful, melodic and soothing voice.
