The life Aquatic
8/10 somtimes weird but overall funny
I just remembered that a few evenings ago, I watched a film called The Stepford Wives. Having heard about it before, I thought it sounded strange, but, with enough spare time to watch it, I did not think too highly nor low of it. The plot seemed somewhat interesting and attention-catching with a happy ending, but overall, I did not feel greatly impressed.
My rating: 5/10.
i just watched 'the perfect storm'
1/10 probably one of the worst films ive ever watched laced with cheese so sentimental it was sickening AVOID for the life of you
I watched "American Pie 2" about three evenings ago. Despite having its enjoyable moments, the film was largely disappointing and I am afraid to report that it deserves no more than 2 stars out of 10. While "American Pie" can be considered a masterpiece of modern cinema - perhaps the defining film of the century so far - its sequel is altogether less engaging, less intelligent, less socially relevant and less funny. The characters, who in the first film displayed an emotional depth that gave us no choice but to welcome them into our hearts, were merely irksome this time around - indiscreet paradies of themselves.
It is always a shame when a sequel feebly and unapologetically apes the original but this really left a lump in my throat because it was essentially a pastiche of a genre which the first film single-handedly defined: the sensitive and insightful teen comedy propelled at speed by an unending succession of cleverly-staged and utterly hilarious capers.
With the second instalment having sucked so hard, I have firmly resolved not to bother with the third lest it should further undermine my fondess for AP1. There are some things in life that induce such a profound sense of emptiness that it's impossible really to harbour any burning resentment and you're left just feeling kind of disappointed. For me, "American Pie 2" is one of those things.
Yesterday I watched Cold Mountain. Dramatic and tragic ending. The story is all but boring. I like it and it's so romantic.
7/10
Do you agree though, that it's an anti-war movie?

A Million Dollar Hotel. 8/10 (OK, it's not an objective judgement because the plot was created by Bono and throughout the film there's U2 music)
I don't know if you share my oppinion, but I think yes.Quote:

I've been watching my DVD of Middlemarch (BBC) and would give it a 10/10. I think they did a great job with turning the novel faithfully into a movie, and the casting was perfect.
Stranger Than Paradise 7/10
Down by Law 9/10 <- really good, check it out.
Well, I've watched quite a few so:
Mystery Train 6.5/10
Night on Earth 9/10 <- very conceptual movie, excellently done. If you're not into Jarmusch, this is a good place to start.
Dead Man 8/10
Gods and Generals. A good one. 7/10. I'm longing to see the rest of the trilogy.
