song of the sierras
woodpeckers' high pitch cackles
verbally clash with each other -
echoes in the forest, in the fog
cumulus nimbus clouds skirt
the sierras as earthworms bath
in petrichor scented paradise
not entirely unexpected the rain
came, softly at first, then drown-
ing out the treefrogs' bright song

Soft breezes...
Soft breezes
delay summer,
sand dollars strewn
yawning on the beach,
shells, shells, shells...
hermit crabs lurk
from their hiding places.
Lazily the beach rolls
Towards the horizon.
A dark night sets in,
without the relief of torches.

visitation
dogs were barking at the eerie light -
I'd experienced Fata Morgana's before
from my younger days on the high seas
but this phenomenon was not quite right
it was a shimmering fire on the horizon
in the shape of a spiral, a mad helix of
mythical proportions persisting in vision
even as it soared away into the twilight

The hummingbird and the mouse
Nature was celebrating spring.
Trees and shrubs sporting new green coats
while the flowers dazzled
in their colored dresses.
like young girls at a festive birthday party.
Meanwhile,
enthusiastic hummingbirds
rehearsed a multi voiced concert.
Down in her dark hole
the nondescript mouse sighed:
"Everybody is having
such a great time,
while I am here
in hiding."

Once upon a time..
There once was a pearl
and being a pearl
she was pale.
She lived inside a möbius.
One day she met a butterfly.
The exilerated butterfly sang:
I want to be free free, free.
The pearl entretreated her
Come and live with me.
But the butterfly only answered:
I want to be free, free, free!
And flew away.

Like a Picture of a Fashion Magazine.
Strolling down the town square in shining shoes
Umbrella open to detain the profuse glass pearls
that descend from the sky,
or the excess of sun.
Irrationally radiant mood,
Playing chess with a rainy afternoon,
playing chess with adventure
and winning!
