I hate how the free response part of my calc exam is asking me to make the equation I need to solve the problem..I suck at that.

All right, here's my random thought of the day/equation(s)
consider the curve defined by the equation x^2cos(y)+ysin(2pi x)-x=-1
1)write the equation of the tangent line to the curve at the point (1, pi/2)
...I hate trying to write my own equations.
but all you gotta do is derive and substitute the values... what is the problem?
and... is it f(x) or f(y)?
It doesn't say. But I figured it out so it's all good. Thanks! I guess the wording just confused me when I first read it.
it makes all the difference. if its f(x) you have to derive only the x members. if itīs f(y), you derive only the y members. then you substitute the values on the equation and you have the numerical value of the tangent. right?Quote:
