Bummed out... just after I posted this a fire broke out at property next door, so no poetry today except for what I had emailed... and Tinker Bell got out while I was getting ready to evacuate. Fire seems to be out now and barring flareups in the wind we should be fine... chess at 6:30 hope I find my kitty :(
I hope all goes well with you and Tinker. There are fires here in São Paulo, too, but as yet not where I live.
.PS By your latest post I suppose you are back. Hoping the danger is averted and you are all well..

The Mad World is a reality here too: prices keep rising and the salaries and the rents don't accompany. I hope there is enough for food and the basic bills.

A bit frazzled. Found Tinker Bell... how he got out of his carrier I don't know, but he finally came out of hiding in the house... he had every opportunity to get outside, where I thought he was as I didn't close the front door for over 30 minutes whilst hoping to watch the fire's progress with my daughter and loading the car. All we could see was billows of black then white smoke above the trees, which was slowly moving away, the fire gutting our neighbor's home unfortunately. Planes and chopper were otherwise quick and efficient. Keeping the car half packed just in case overnight with a backup cat carrier ready.
Chess: lost 2-games (1 w/ white, 1 w/ black) out of two playing sub par to a marginally better player.
Basic finances are covered with a small emergency fund which is one hit from disappearing.... still, I'm blessed and grateful for that :)

Glad that for now all turned out well but you will have to watch out. As for Tinker, my late cat Tino was a specialist in opening doors. I had to change his carrier for a more secure one after he opened the first one and landed in the middle of the street, cars around and all. He used his paw almost like a human hand and opened the bolt. The problem is that he now probably will go into hide as soon as you start carrying things to your car. He probably didn´t go out because he is not thinking of leaving you or his home. He just doesn´t fancy the rides he has been taken too of late.
São Paulo is presently full of burning spots, several people got into prison for arson. The difference: You have Summer now and we Winter.

Moonflowers dot the hillside under a new moon all aglow -
against a skeletal tree a ladder bends haphazardly under a
gamesome young witch s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g wand in hand
in hopes of catching a star to awaking the magi's gift of
conjuring and flight in advance of All Hallows' Eve night

Ambiguous Autumn
Leaves progress toward their celestial fate
Like verbs who failed to conjugate
Changing color, wither, fall, then susurrus
Before the wind in their distress

Our Thursdays at Two poetry assignment due yesterday was a Rispetto in the style of ABAB CCDD... I went with 11-sillybibbles in each line:
November Rispetto
Oak trees shedding acorns, crunch beneath one’s feet
Those not raked with leaves and pine needles elude
burn piles here and there crackling with intense heat
Smoke rises at a whim changing the wind’s mood
Bucking logs into rounds, stacked after splitting

Enjoyed the poem."No time for dilly-dally" emphasizing a certain sense of urgency sounds OK for me. It's an unformal expression that combines with the poem.
