Being given the material, I can try :)
Does it have to do with the shoulder?
Ditto.

The other day my sister ran across the collection of her drawings. My sisters are brilliant when it comes to sketching and drawing.
There she found something; an amateur attempt by me.
Here it is.

Hi Varenne, hope to see some of your work soon. :)
@ MM - I have a strong suspicion that you're from some other planet. ;) What a wonderful imagination! Many stories can be set with your photo as the background.
@ Snowqueen - It's a very good sketch. I like the way he is hugging the bear, though still holding his gun.
@Tony - Such a nice sketch and you have been keeping this a secret. Come on, share something more with us. :)
Doesn't seem an amateur attempt at all. It looks pretty detailed to me http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/good2.gifhttp://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif
:)
Added an ancient Greek set:

First Tony now Snowqueen steps out with some hidden talent.
A fine sketch indeed Snowqueen. You asked for a “mild” critique, so I’ll pass on some thoughts.
For one, whom I gather draws occasionally for leisure or mental escape, you exhibit a good grasp on basic sketching skills and ability to show correct proportions as seen in the boy and the bear cub. Some areas read a bit flat (two dimensional) such as the right foot, whereas the shadowing and rendered folds of the right arm sleeve and detail of the bear’s paw, show nice detail and three dimensional quality.
Show a little more modeling of the right hand and roundness / thickness of the fingers wrapping around the rifle stock.
Three “f’s” face, fingers and feet, have been a continued source of heartache for me.
Anyhow, a nice sketch overall and I hope you will continue to do and show more. Is that "2009" at the bottom? - I hope that wasn't the last time you sketched.
It is quite rewarding when you’ve turned out something you are proud of.
Thank you Gilliatt for your mild critique, though I know you have been very busy lately. You are quite right about the three “f’s” (face, fingers and feet) it was difficult for me to draw them. Sometimes I thought of giving it all up, but still managed to complete it.
I do have a couple of more drawings that are waiting to be scanned. So, you better get ready!
Reworked the ancient Greek set, and currently creating a Babylonian one :)

And the third set:

Is this thread dead? :/
Anyway, a Byzantine design:

At times it does feel like a dead thread, as it happens frequently with some other sections of the forum as well. Anyway, let's hope it's not so very much dead by the time I have something to post here, maybe in a few more days :p
Are you still using Blender, Kyriakos?
As a matter of fact I've been feverishly working on the next Ben and Franklin's Thanksgiving masterpiece. (grinning green smilie here)
For the time being, I will share a couple of studies or warm ups if you will, for B&F.
The quarter is for scale.

Those are very cool, Gilliatt. I love the shading.
This thread isn't dead and I'm glad. I have something to post. Several things, actually. I will be posting them in the beginning of December, so please come back and look, everyone. I fell on very hard times, but I have turned a corner. I am moving to a new house. Packing boxes is time consuming. I won't have internet that can support picture sharing until I am in my new place. Internet coverage was drastically reduced in my area because no one really lives here anymore. With wildfires followed by treacherous snowfalls, this land became inhospitable. It almost killed my art business. It almost killed me. Everything is changing. I have new energy.
For the sake of goodness, no one leave off of this thread for too long and let's not pout over its death. It's still kicking.
Great sketches as always, Gilliatt! http://smiles.kolobok.us/artists/laie/Laie_60B.gif Please post more whenever you can!
You've been under fire but I'm happy to know you'll have a new life in a brand new place, Var http://fc03.deviantart.net/images/i/..._emoticon___v2
I may have something to post too, hopefully in a few days if everything turns out fine and I manage to shake off a few burdens. I'll be checking :)
Very nice sketches Gilliatt :)
I finished the Byzantine set.

And yes, these are made with Blender :)
Good work everyone - even the slackers I'm sure! ;)
Can't wait for the finished result Gilliatt, looking detailed as is
Good work Kyriakos! (I'll try to satisfy Mr Gurgle's need for enormity (I'm sure living in Texas has something to do with it ;) ). I could manipulate it much much larger, but the Litnet bandwidth thing ya know...

Here are a couple of recent ones. A crater planet, and an Alien Sea Monster, whoooo be afraid...

Neat set, Ky. I like the fountains and the domes. Have you ever taken architecture classes?
Mystyry, these worlds and creatures of yours are wonderful! Again, the depth is amazing. Very cool, spooky textures.
Only philosophy classes i am afraid ;)
Gilliatt, these were made for this size, i could render them in a different scale but i doubt they would look very good...
Anyway, two more sets, Maya and ancient Japanese:

A larger render, this is the Hagioi Apostoloi of Thessalonica:

Very cool in both cases Kyriakos, the second looks like it'd fit in Civ 5 quit happily :)
Thankyou Varenne, always so encouraging :) Sometimes from the initial idea they just come together and seem to work without fuss - like these. At other times they may involve a lot of false starts and tiresome reworking so that they eventually get there, but it's rare that the finished product feels like its own reward.
It looks quite amazing Gilliatt! I hope we are going to see the complete drawing very soon and it seems very different from your previous versions of Ben and Franklin.
Looking forward to see your work, Varenne and Max.
Your landscapes are wonderful, MystyrMystyry (I hope I spelled your name right!).
Thank you Mystyr :)

(first row is Byzantine reworked) Portuguese medieval towns.
Gosh....haven't been on for a while! D: I've been busy writing and whatnot....
But here's my most recent work! It's fan art of my favorite music band, Big Bang:
http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/i/20...re-d5o4ttw.jpg
I'm not familiar with the band, but I love the colors, Beau! They look like they're glowing. Very neat.
Here's a basic sketch I did recently...
http://www.online-literature.com/for...7&d=1356229058
I played with the color a bit. I wasn't fully satisfied with it, but I have moved on.
@ Var: I think this sketch presents a most suitable occasion to confess I'm your #1 fan, whatever you come up with http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...ileys/clap.gif http://smileys.emoticonsonly.com/emo...isses-2723.gif The coppery shades give it an ancient touch, like it was dug out of a book of memories :)
@ Beau: you should already know I'm your #1 fan, whatever you come up with http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...ileys/clap.gif http://smileys.emoticonsonly.com/emo...isses-2723.gif :)
Another sketch. Maybe my favorite for the year. Portrait of a woman named Lan. :)

Nice work! :hurray:
Thank you so much, Cioran! :D
http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...ting-above.gif That's staggeringly breathtaking! http://smilies-gifs.com/amarillos/7amarillos.gif http://smilies-gifs.com/adorar-abuch...r-abuchear.gif
http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/..._Hug_heart.gif
I've been working on a few things you might like to see. I just never get to be pleased enough with them, so they are in a constant modification process
I would love to see them! I don't mind the wait, though. I just had a big delay myself. I'm so happy to be back to work. The process is as important as the result.
I have to finish a sculpture and post pictures of it. Hopefully soon after Christmas. I'm so glad you liked my drawing. Thank you. :)
This last portrait is so delicate, beautiful!
I am a huge fan of your work Varenne. I love your sculptures and I wish I had enough disposable cash to buy one. You have a wonderful talent! I also love your drawings. You have an awesome style.
Nice work Varenne.
What is the media? The first appears to have some computer generated coloring (?)
The second looks to be graphite and/or charcoal.
Ah! Thank you, BB. That means a lot to me. In an effort to give everyone who wants one of my sculptures a chance to own one, I hold an annual contest/drawing for a free figure. Just one per year. A winner is announced each November. I would be happy to add your name to the list of entrants for 2013 if you would like. :)
