Thank's Themis for the immpecably sung Peter Alexander track; it brought back happy memories of Vienna.
Here's a French song that just about eveyone knows. I like to play it but nothing like as well as it's played here.

Yes it is a very fine performance. It's amazing how many people have recorded it over the years. There is even a version by Brigitte Bardot, although I imagine she will be remembered for other attributes than her singing.
Ellie Goulding's cover of Only Girl by Rihanna. I really can't stand Rihanna (her voice annoys me. I liked her early stuff, but nothing after that), but Ellie's cover makes the song really great to listen to, for me.
Song To Say Goodbye - Placebo
It's been said that this song has been recorded by more people than any other in the history of recorded music but, without a doubt, this is the best version. The singing is superb and Gordon Jenkins magical orchestration of Hoagy Carmichael's bitter sweet lyrics is beyond reproach.

Ah, the first person I convinced of his greatness... all right, so I didn't. You obviously knew him already.

(Mozart's "Masonic Funeral March")
Yes, he is the epitome of the German Wirtschaftswunder in entertainment terms and a true performer who means so much to those who lived through those magical years. Here he is with the great Herrman Prey on one of his shows.

Currently listening to Mastadon's "Crack the Skye" album on CD. Beautiful.
Geez, this is album is so good. I think it's my favorite from Mastadon. I may have to go on a Mastadon binge to be sure.
