thanks for the link danik. the problem isn't with spritzer though, its predominantly with poof. although lately he's been spending his days in the back bedroom and that's been helpful, but also a little saddening.
my house is really small and that makes things a challenge. today im going to buy another litter box and that'll help keep them from having to cross occupied paths.
the big monkey wrench is that starting today im going to be dog sitting for a week. i'll have to move poofs food to a new place, which should be okay, but this is going to likely mean he'll be spending all the more time alone in the back bedroom. for some reason that I don't understand, when I go back to check on him, he scurries under the bed. otherwise when he's in the rest of the house, he comes up to me to get pet, or allows me to come up to him to pet him.

who doesn't love cheese sandwiches!
I spent a few weeks riding around England many years ago and we often stopped for lunch at local pubs. cheese and pineapple seemed to be a common sandwich at the time.
string quartet
Bounty, from the link it seems that they have to get used to each other smell, ideally before seeing each other. This first step has been jumped, they are now in the same house and know about each other. Maybe some steps can still be aplied: feeding at the same time but in separate spaces, with gradual approaching of cats and bowls
I think your bedroom is poofs refuge and the bed is his bunker. My Tino used to take refuge under the bed on New Year’s Eve, when the fire cracker exploded.
