Good question. Not to go on a tangent, or anything, but Emerson wrote of this at great length - explore the world, or explore the mind? He postulated that some people travel for the unconscious purpose of distraction from one's self, a bit Freudian, I know - coping mechanisms of the projection of unconscious desires to the outer world, but how would life seem as a shut-in recluse?
Honestly, I would choose the books, upon the condition that I could own them after reading them.

I'd choose the free airfrare. I've been reading books about places all over the world since I was a kid and my mind often went wild for wanting to visit them. So far, I've been to 20 countries and I want to see more of the world :).

I'm not a very good liar. I guilt trip mid lie and crack if I ever try, but for a good cause, I might toss a creative version of the truth. So much for my morals :rolleyes:

To what length would you go to see someone happy?

To endless depths, especially for someone I love, whether intimately or Platonic (family, friends). I have, however, committed a few random acts of kindness; about a month ago, during an awful snowstorm that lasted nearly a week, a homeless couple who had gotten their sleeping bags, blankets, and extra clothes stolen, sat outside in the snow, begging for any spare change. Feeling awful for them, I took them into a nearby restaurant, bought them some take-out food, then to a hostel, and bought them a room, a few nights' worth, to stay out of the cold, until the snow was expected to melt.
