The thought comes to mind, "A Whole New World"...this has nothing to do with Aladdin. but that's the phrase. Great job Mystyr!
Thankyou Max and Beautifull :)
Thought I'd return to simple shapes but complex textures:

Looks quite cool!
Thanks Max - another with the reduction problem of losing detail in order to resize. I've resized a detail only by half to keep it relatively small
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...yry/detail.jpg
Resizing can be a whole subject depending on the results you want to achieve. If you have GIMP you may want to try a plug-in called Liquid Rescale. The basic idea, AKA content-aware resizing, is to resize portions of the image while leaving a selected area unaltered, meaning the area we want to keep as similar to the original as possible after rescaling is done. I don't know if it is exactly your problem, but here's an example of what I once tried:
Back then I wanted to fit the whole first image into a 300 by 300 frame without altering the shape of the man, sun, clouds, and ice near him. As the central image shows I didn't make it by means of the normal rescaling procedure, which is obvious due to the irregularity in size of the new image with respect to the original (from a 488 by 355 pic to a 300 by 300 pic). The third image shows the result of the Liquid Rescaling Algorithm, and although the left side looks rather twisty, at least I was able to keep that certain part of the scene unaltered while fit into a smaller frame than the original... really close to my expectations.
By the way, it's one of the first scenes in 30 Days of Night, which I then wanted rescaled in this fashion in order to be used as a profile pic. Of course it was also a good test for the plug-in and for myself too, since I was learning how to use it.

I hope it might help sometime :seeya:
That's a big difference there Max, I like that.
Mystyr, the colors inside the sphere remind me of legos. XD
It's been a minute since I've had inspiration to draw something, but I did this one last night when I couldn't sleep. I'm thinking about fixing her eyebrows to make her look less hostile...
http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/i/20...re-d4yslp8.jpg
Here's another I've finished...that's not so...sketchy...
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...re-d4z62e1.jpg
They're great Beautifull! :) I like the sketchiness of the first, the rough edges and hair really adds to the expression, and vice versa. The second has a lot of latent energy - both the ready-to-spring pose and the solid black against white. The shadow and sense of foreground depth give it a sci fi feel.
That was a good description and demonstration Max - I'll definitely keep it in mind :) The problem I was referring to however isn't quite that complex, just that sometimes when reducing the size of an image it occasionally doesn't give a very clear result, and I realise too late after I've moved onto something else instead of re-rendering at the new dimensions, and it's a hassle to reset (if I've neglected to save the scene, or changed the textures and models and lighting and stuff too drastically).
Thank you Neo. :D
Thanks Mystyr. I'm thinking of drawing out a background for her, but two things hindering me. One of them being, I don't know what the background should be, and the other: Even if I did know what it should be, I suck at drawing backgrounds. XD But if I do think of a nice background, I'll give it a shot.
Until then, she has a shadow. One a white background.
Great drawings B :)
Some more miniatures, in yet another style:

Like this perhaps?

That first one looks like a familiar fantasy scene Kyriakos - can't quite place it though
It is a medieval Siam set :) Thai buildings are very beautiful in my view.
Okay I am horrible at drawing. Always have been.
However mustering up some courage I tried this quick sketch (took less than five minutes) after a long, long time! And even more shamelessly I have had the audacity of presenting it here! :p What an Artist indeed! A four year old could draw better!
Thanks K! And your miniature sets are always awesome! :D
And I love it, Mystyr! :]
Aw Pensive, it's good! And I doubt a four year could draw your skull. Just keep at it! You'll get better with practice. ;)
wow everyone has so much talent- sorry I don't have time to go member by member as I would like to, but I love coming back to flip though what everyone has compiled and accomplished while I was away.
Doodling to show myself I cannot be bored.

PS. Art is the last thing I could ever do, but I can always doodle with the help of google! :D

I like the circle sparkle in the eye Symphony - like a definite light source, perhaps a full moon?
Interesting Kyriakos - have you adapted the mountain tiles as well?
I was looking at some Roger Dean album covers, and thought I'd try to replicate one of his designs in software
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...aceislands.jpg
Thank you :)
No, the mountains were not made by me, but the other static gfx were as well (the two mills, the well and the fortresses)
Cool, it looks like a good scenario as well. I remember the fantasy sequel to Civ 2 with redesigned graphics, but also the themed but murky interface that made it virtually impossible to play. Shame really.
I should explain how I've been seeing things that aren't there - it's partly my monitor. I've been doing super high def work for print and keep changing the resolution for different levels of detail, (which is also how I thought I saw a circular sparkle instead of a pentagon)

I tend to paint with a camera...and photoshop- But here are two I've done lately you might enjoy.
Nice shots Steph. I really like the wooden tombstoney one - what is that exactly?
@ Beau: get back here and post more http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif sketches! :)
@ Pensive: it does have a Van Gogh style, as was said above http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif :)
@ Symphony: http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif http://smiles.kolobok.us/personal/hi.gif :)
@ Kyriakos: http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif
@ Steph: it looks perfect though it's no surprise coming from you. You should post more. People here are not quite aware of the many talents you can shoot on a photo ♥ :) Just today I'm able to log in and post a comment, but I saw them when they were first posted... I shoulda been quicker :(
@ Mystyr: goop in the sense of slimy substance? Any special reason for the color transitions of the video? Other than that, no further questions for the time being and a http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif :)
Ky, great job. Love seeing everything together in a scene like that.
Mystyry, your pictures are so pretty! I really love the Roger Dean inspired islands and trees.
Steph, I can't get your pictures to load, but I'm working on it. :)
Symphony, I like your doodles a lot! I think you have more artistic potential than you think and I really appreciate you sharing it here.
Facebook links can be a little tricky to view elsewhere. Try again with the following (these are posted on Steph's photographic business page... she's quite a camera expert :)):
Thanks Max - not sure either way actually *shrugs*. In the first case I needed a name, in the second case I just needed a video, and as a still image is a waste of bandwidth I thought I'd manipulate it subtlely.
Thanks Varenne - he did quite a few interesting designs. If you ever get the chance to check out his architecture it's worth it.
This is just a digital doodle:

Thanks Max, sometimes they just come together with minimal fuss (definitely not always)
I know what you're talking about. Creative impulse not being a permanent tenant :p
That's beautiful, Mystyry! So shiny.
I love the tree, Steph. The color glow is very warm and rich.
These are sketches with cheap ballpoint pens and pencils on lined paper, mostly done left handed since the shoulder injury.

:seeya: :)
Thanks Var - it'd make a good sci fi book cover I think. Maybe I'll write it myself one day ;)
For your lefty efforts - Well done Var! The second one looks almost lithographic. I like the contrast between space and thick line in the last. The first has an ominous aspect, dig the detail in the clothes :)
Awww, sorry I haven't been able to get on much.
I don't have any sketches, but I did color someone else's 'sketch'
