Left a kid—nineteen—
All his life before him still:
Shattered body comes home—
Purple Heart Veteran of war—
But somehow lost himself there…
(dedicated to my own dad, who came home from Vietnam with two Purple Hearts, but really never came home...)
Pendragon
1920's Chicago
-
Streets form a bloody
aisle, horse remains ignored
by children at play.
Butchery no longer shocks,
futures grown senseless to pain.
from a picture I saw in a history book (somewhere buried in the haiga contest).
myth-making
-
Flex the corner piece
into its place; the puzzle
is filled, hands study
a glossy texture rumpled
with veins, the living picture.
your favorite local wildlife creature
-
Not really in the 'locality', but The Royal Bengal DOES live in the Sundarbans(the mangrove forests in Bangladesh)...so, hats off to them.
The proud dark patches
Pose the vanity, as does
Every move it makes.
The yellow smiles bright as gold
Heave the paws, and danger calls.
-
and the next subject is... :)
-
oops! sorry!
A Letter to a Distant Friend if u please. :)
-
My lady lifted
by this note, fulfill my dreams
and sway an eager
soul by thinking this exchange
higher power met by pens.
the whir of summer Fair lights
-
Though oceans apart,
and time may separate us
our hearts beat as one.
My special friend you live in
me, as I live within you.
-
Should have read the instructions first, hey?
Sparkling fairy lights
buzzing like bees round honey
highlight fairground rides.
Yet my mind is absorbed by
the summer smell of your hair.
Next : getting caught out in a thunderstorm
-
The sky, a growling
stomach flashes with temper,
crying frustrated
tears which dampen my thin dress
exhilarating my soul.
Next : Standing on a bridge
-
i remember when
a big bridge stood strong and wide
concrete unyielding
breathing wet they stood alone
crying im not coming home
a walkabout
-
Cities splayed gaping
in the dark, floating windows
as I walk the street.
Neon bulbs and lonesome lamps
kill starlight, from sidewalks seen.
Persian ruggery
-
ruggery? you are soooo out of time. :) it's great.
Rugs complex as love
and magic, can fly! Ali!
edged in sultan's hair,
seeks out oasis hidden
low under Saharan stars.
next: autumn in the mountains
-
The shine of morning
Travelling over damp grass
The leaning shoulder
Soft beneath your warm fresh feet
The crisp air seduces breath
Home after an extensive holiday
-
perfect cup of tea
a view, a chair with purpose
forever now waits
the many skies visited
my own today is present
encounter with a grizzly bear
