Hi... Just call me Winter Lite. My beloved pseudonym :)
I'm 14 and Indonesian. I may not critical and intelligent in dictions, syntaxes, or everything like that. But I like literature. I love short stories the best, rather than novels. Here's my story.
My first short story, when I was realized that literature is interesting is The Locket, from Kate Chopin. It was on the Typing master v6.01 LOL! It was quite long, and I try to comprehend the story -- failed, don't understand. I just know that the soldier was dead. and Octavie love him. And that's why I like it. The complexity of plotting and where and when the story takes places and time. I mean, it suddenly shift to another part of the life. In The Locket, I'm talking about from the bonfire of the soldiers, moved to a woman named Octavie.
The next short stories I read is Difficult People, The Lottery Ticket, and The Chorus Girl -- Chekhov's. The Difficult People is hard to me at the first glances, I must read it more. But I got The Lottery Ticket, and The Chorus Girl key. The lost of false future dreams (Lottery Ticket), and the poor innocent chorus girl, being humiliated on the second time. Hehe.
My favorite story right now is The Trousseau. I like its description from the beginning of the story. Like : ... drowned in a perfect sea of green. The absence of care for the nature surrounding them, etc. I like its timing though. The first visit is taking on "many years ago", The second : "7 years after the first", and the third : "A year ago". See the ambiguity? Well, so many things I love in this story.
I joined this forum, because I think I'll be able to find some good recommendations from the experts here. There are many stories out there I haven't read. I'm just curious. And for the interesting discussions also will be a learning pack for me.
The first time I visited this forum is simply writing on Google : the trousseau chekhov's analysis. And it brought me here. And whew... It was on 2009 and was very long discussions, yet interesting. They're very critical about the single detail on the story. Like the word "fate" on The Trousseau. A single word can make the reader feel curious.
So... why I'm talking about the stories? LOL! That's from me. Nice to meet you all~

Newbie
Well today is my first day, someone pointing me in the direction of the site to hone our writing skills.
Well I'm not good at introducing myself, I'm from the UK but I've travelled around a fair bit from visiting to States to spending six months in New Zealand all of which has helped give me experience and inspiration for my writing.
I love reading and writing Sci-Fi and Fantasy but have written short stories in all genres. Currently working on a book but having a go at doing some more short stories.

Hello. I'm Jillian and I like reading, but I'm bad at writing about it. I joined because I thought someone might be able to help me out with a literature based research paper that I'm writing.

Hello all, I'm Christina!
I've always loved literature and am currently taking an English Lit A Level at home through home study as I work full-time. It's rather difficult to keep yourself motivated after a long day's work, and plus I don't always have the benefit of being able to discuss the works I am studying with others who appreciate them as I do. This is what I'm hoping to find here!
Hopefully, you guys will be able to help me out with some in-depth discussion and on broadening my knowledge of literature in general!
I look forward to getting to know you all!
