Managed a Fruit and vegie deparment of a large store, accidentally for 6 weeks after the manager stormed out of the shop in a fit of rage. I had no idea what I was doing. But had no complaints... Jamaica Inn, what a wonderful tale. I bought my copy in Jamaica Inn itself on edge Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. There is a brass palque on the floor in Jamaica Inn that reads: “On this spot Joss Merlin was murdered.”
I was really in to Daphne Du Maurier at the time and can remember trying to find the inspiration for Manderley in Rebecca. A house called Menabilly near Fowey [Pronounce FOY as in Boy] “Last Night I Dreamt of Manderley Again.”
Sounds like a good story.
