Striking pictures and poem, Max. Well done.
I made this baby dragon for a friend's birthday. It's about two inches tall and three inches long. :)

Wow, that dragon looks awesomely blue! :)
Thank you Var http://smiles.kolobok.us/remake/bye.gif
Really cute dragon, Varenne. Its eyes remind me of Shrek's Puss in Boots.
Thank you Max! Thank you Veho! I wanted his eyes to look big, curious, and endearing. Puss is such a cute kitty. I really appreciate that comparison. :)
Lots of energy going on there Max! :) And the words fit the images too.
That's excellent Varenne! :) I like the big eyes and general cuteness of it.
I finally finished my monorail, though circular proved to be a real hassle, so it's more about a framed landscape:
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...y/monorail.jpg
That's beautiful, Mystyry! It reminds me of one of the monos in The Dark Tower series. Gliding over a shimmering sea of colors. Very neat, and thanks for what you said about my dragon! :)
Thankyou Var, and no worries - your dragon deserves even more praise! :)
I'm now working on a steamtrain and bridge spectacular, but I can't say how long it'll be, with all the other business I've got going on. It's perfect beach weather today and I've promised myself to hit the waves, so maybe It'll inspire a shoreline quickie with a pier ;)
Welcome! http://smiles.kolobok.us/personal/hi.gif And goal achieved! :)
Thanks Mystyr! I've been thinking about posting my humble text creation on the personal poetry section, although I still lack a title for the whole combo... I might anyway do it http://smiles.kolobok.us/artists/jus...C_thinking.gif
That's really awesome... the colors give the scene a touch as of being set on another planet... maybe Jupiter or Saturn http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif
Agreed! http://smiles.kolobok.us/artists/just_cuz/JC_rockin.gif
Yeah, you do the beach hit first. The sea has a special inspiring magic
I've just finished the following birthday card for a friend who is a harpsichordist and Latinist, therefore the harpsichord and greeting in Latin:
Man, I keep disappearing for too long. Sorry guys...
Thanks! As always, I value your opinion. :D
Wow! What a magnificent cake! I couldn't have done better. I would have been ecstatic to have someone make me a cake like this. ;)
Thanks. I plan to put a background, but I can't think of any good background to put...will it stay blank??? GASP!
Thanks. :)
Thanks! Yes, it's because I've been thinking too much of the past. And I also remember at one point in my life, I wondered and wanted to know so bad where I would end up. Too much thinking....grrr. lolz.
Thanks everyone for your feedback. :P
That's cool Max - very fluid :) I like the informal slightly wonky font too.

I tried this, but I can't guess how you want the figures coloured (and also because you're the gradient master around here):

I admit it - I'm becoming a bit obsessed, but it isn't a problem (it isn't, honest!):

Beau, the future is unset. We usually ignore where we'll end up. One year ago you could have hardly imagined you'd be doing what you're doing now, and nonetheless you're doing it. Let the river take you, but always wear a life jacket, in case you need to swim out of it :)
Mystyr, your abstract creativity knows no boundary, and the background to Beau's sketch looks appealing too http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/ok.gif
Fluid wonky thanks! http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/thank_you.gif
I keep wondering why I keep doing birthday cards for people I'd never get any sort of present from on the day of my own, but here's one I did for Sophie. I'm thinking the only justifiable reason is the sheer practice involved:
A Surrealist Birthday Card!
I'd go with that Max. There seems to be a niche for them - the more surreal the better I reckon.
Here's some stuff I've done:

Hey, that's cool Ave!
Here's an alien cottage in the alien woods (true!)
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...styry/1oo2.jpg
Max, first it's nuclear annihilation of "Charlotte" Bronte? and now rocket propelled sprites from a cake. In the words of Arte Johnson; "Verrry interesting..."
Some hand drawn work for a change. What mediums are you using?
Hehe Nice MM. Is that a stump in the foreground?
Thanks Mystyr! I suppose surrealism has an attractiveness of its own, as well as alien cottages in alien woods :)
What you do has a very special touch, ave.
Thanks for the comment, Gilliatt! The missile's ultimate purpose was actually to avenge Charlotte; not to annihilate her :p And the sprite just wanted to come out of there! :)
Wow. I don't know where to begin. Max, I love your cards! They make me laugh and/or smile. I hope to see many more of them!
Mystyry, the tree stump is my favorite part. It almost looks like someone or something could climb down inside of it. I also liked your triangle/pyramids in the previous post. They reminded me of rubix cubes. The most complex ones ever, and in pyramid form.
Ave d, I can't properly express how much I love your drawings. There is so much detail. So many things going on. It's like poetry, or stories. It reminds me of my brother's art. I'm going to look at your pictures over and over. :)
Thanks for the compliments, all!
No.1 is watercolor and ink (Pigma Micron 005 pen) on a piece of brown paper bag.
No.s 2, 3 and 6 are the same very fine point (0.2 mm) pens in sketchbooks of varying sizes. I like to draw small (maybe it's because I learned how to draw by doodling in the margins of my school notebooks), and blown up scans don't really give a good sense of that:
http://www.princeton.edu/~ddunham/art/drawing%20001.JPG
No.3 was done with a mouse in some primitive online drawing application (I forget which).
No.4 was done with sharpie markers on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. That one is a collaboration with a good friend of mine.
I like it. Reminds me a little of "magic eye" posters.
Your wishes are orders! The following are recent birthday animations:
http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...e-for-Jess.gif
http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/..._harmonica.gif
http://i1005.photobucket.com/albums/...n20in20sno.gif
The last one is written in Finnish (for a Finnish friend) and it means "Happy birthday dear Anna." The previous dragonfly playing the harmonica would be autobiographic if I didn't keep postponing my learning how to play a harmonica :p
You could get one of your own if I knew your birthday! :sosp: :D
Thanks Varenne, Ave, and Max :)
Do you submit to any Greeting Card sites Max? Something to consider...
This was supposed to have sculptures in it sort of like Easter Island, but I haven't got them to look right yet.
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...calmorning.jpg
Wondtastic even without sculptures in it! Perfect greeny palm leaves and grass! :cheers2:
http://smiles.kolobok.us/personal/hi.gif
It hadn't crossed my mind http://smiles.kolobok.us/artists/jus...C_thinking.gif I wonder if such sites pay you for it http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/sc...one-s_head.gif I could really use an extra income! :p
You are improving fast, Mystyrmystyry :) Already looks very good.
This is an ancient roman miniature set:

Man! I need to stop disappearing!!! X(
Ave d, your stuff is so creative! I love it!
Thanks for the background! It's nice, and I think it fits perfectly with my theme. And am I really the gradient master? I hadn't known! But I have started to color the figures, but I'm not finished yet. I'll post when I do finish....whenever that is. XD
Thanks for the encouraging words, Maxey. They always give me a boost. And your cards are so cute! You're getting really good at them!
I agree! And As always, I love your miniature sets! They're so detailed. XD
As for me, I still do draw. Here's one I just finished a couple of days ago. I plan to color it later. Hey Max, do you think you could give it a transparent background? :
http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/20...re-d4tj24y.jpg
Sure do! http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/acute.gif
Thank you too! http://smiles.kolobok.us/standart/thank_you.gif
Sure could! Gimme some days and I'll find me some time along the weekend :)
More or less like this:
Thank you, Maxi!
Here's a commission I just finished. The Beatles Yellow Submarine. :)

Amazing linework there Beau! :) And glad you enjoyed the background
That submarine's just Brilliant Var! :) What dimensions is it?
I made some rings dance (actually I just really needed to use the sky before I forgot about it, but I'm happy with the simplicity of the design):
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...ystyry/E12.jpg
I ended up using completely different sculptures for the island - but it's still a work in progress:
http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...almorningg.jpg
Thank you, Max! Thank you, Mystyry! It's about 9 inches long, 6 inches tall.
I love your sculptures, Mystyry! Those rings look fantastic. If they were candy, I would eat them.
Dancing rings look neat. The transparent sculptures have a lively appearance that reminds me of the aliens from the predator movies, when they become sort of semi-invisible and lurk their preys from among the trees... such mumbo jumbo to say I like it by means of a derailing mind making connections with movies :p

It's great! I really like the water texture in the middle too - it seems to stand out more in the second photo. Was it difficult?
Thanks again Max :)
Very interesting sculptures. One of Cthulhu would be welcome too :D
Here are some more stuff: Medieval Japanese, Industrial Japanese, Ancient Roman and Medieval Chinese:
