Just finished Barbirolli's recordings of Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto, Cockaigne Overture and Sea Pictures with a young Jaqueline Du Pre on cello and a young Janet Baker, vocalist. Fabulous and completely destroyed my concept of Elgar as the stodgy old fart who wrote nothing but the "Pomp and Circumstance" marches.
