Instead of doing anything constructive I decided to time my reading.
I took 5 books:
Pride and Prejudice
Midnights Children
American Psycho
Return of the Native
Absalom, Absalom
Those books were chosen because they were handy, provided differing reading levels, and different font type on the page.
I timed myself for 5 minutes for each book except P&P which was 3 min and 8 min. This maybe too small a test run but I'm only slightly curious.
I got a range of 33 - 45 pages/hr with an average of 37 pages/hour.
Poetentially if I devoted 1 hour a day to reading in one month I could knock out possibly three books a month (taking an average of 300 pages/book) and the most possibly without eating or sleeping would be ~90.
