I was torn between To the Lighthouse and The Name of the Rose, but seeing as how I'm the one who nominated Woolf,I had to to vote for it.
Sorry everyone!!!!!!LOL
wow, we have a tie. what happens if the poll ends on a tie? do we have another poll for like a day? and then see what the rusults are. cause that would be cool. Only of course if the tie remains. this is exciting. :brow:
critique of religion and philosophy :) haha the tie remains
i just went out shopping and saw east of eden.. 601 pages 601!!
thats right, shes a big one. To the lighthouse would be a much smaller read.
However, East of Eden would be a worthier read. :p
When I read Mrs D at university, I promised myself that I would never touch another Woolf book. I read Orlando since then, thanks to this Book Club and I really don't want to read another of *yawn* her books.
That was a bizarre book...and it wasn't really the fact that he suddenly wakes up one morning to find out he's a woman nor the fact that he lives for 300 or whatever years that bothered me, it was the fact that no one in his/her life seemed to think it was odd. If someone, just one person had said, "holy crap! You're a woman! That is so weird!", I think I would've been fine but they didn't, they all acted like it was just one of those things that happen sometimes. I've read To The Lighthouse so I'm not interested in reading it again, it was much less surreal than Orlando but still...not a book I have a need to read twice.Quote:

Well, anyway, we did vote for East of Eden. We don't have an idea what it is about, but we have met with Woolfs writings and we think we want to challenge unknown monsters who might turn out as giant cute bunny-rabbits (like Frank!)(as opposed to known monsters)
