if you do give liveireland a try, let me know how you like it.
ive not heard of de danna--yet another artist to discover!
ive got some bothy bad, and have listened occasionally. maybe i'll go back and give them some more careful listening.
for mckennit---I recommend she moved through the fair, dante's prayer, and the dark night of the soul, as a start---if you end up liking those, I can recommend bunches more like them
when I can listen to Pandora, ive got a "song of Ireland" (do you know that song by the way?) and a "the water is wide" station. I can deal with some richness lost in order to have the tunes in the first place. and I love the exposure to similar artists.

What I like most about Planxty and Bothy Band is just the joy, of their music. . I have dozens of favourites, but julia Delaney, the Butterfly, Fionnghula, are a few. . . and by Planxty, the Blind Harper was maybe the first song I heard, and soon after Banaesa's Green Glade. .. these are beyond beautiful in my view. .
Have you heard of Jansch or Renbourn? They were part of Pentangle but were also very prolific on their own. . I've explored both of their music to a great extent, and will of course continue now and then.. Like, Jansch had at least 15 solo albums, not counting all his work with fellow musicians - renbourn. . I just went to check because I wasn't sure- yep, even more prolific with 20 solo albums!
Needless to say, I have a lot of favourites, but I really love pretty much all I've haerd of his.
I did listen to a bit of McKennit and liked what she had to say in the beginning of it, about nature and things. .
I have heard song of Ireland I believe but it was a long time ago, I will look it up.
And liveireland and the water is wide - I will remember those for the next time I listen to pandora.
She's a Woman - the Beatles
All The Things She Said - Tatu
She Said, She Said - the Beatles
I listened to what bothy band I had, and with one exception, it was all instrumental, mostly jig type music. I looked and it was all from 1975. i'll have to try some others. thank you for the recommendations. I don't have any planxty, so I look forward to discovering.
I have not heard of jansch or renbourn...so more discovery there too!
you said favourites, with a u---you write british English...smiles...
song for Ireland is right up there in my top all time favorites (I trust you know wild mountain thyme?) and I think the best version, hands down, is by the corrs.
the water is wide is covered by dozens of artists, with great variety in lyrics and arrangement. and if you like the tune, you will probably like carrickfergus. the former is an American version of the latter.
things we said today--the beatles
The Things We Do For Love - 10cc
We've Only Just Begun - The Carpenters
that's awesome. . I will remember carrickfergus because well - family name. (partly)
I hope you enjoy planxty as much as i do! they have a bit overlap with bothy band, donal lunny is in both.
Haha yes I do- for some reason I have, since I was a boy.. now i alternate between them, with or without.
I do like that song a lot - Wild mountain thyme - my favourite is by Joan baez maybe; at least that is the one I have heard most.
jansch was my favourite musician for quite a few years; although over years i came to have an equal appreciation for renbourn; and the work they did with pentangle was my introduction to them; some wonderful songs there.
We're Going Wrong - Cream
(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song - BJ Thomas
Another Heart Breaks - ELO
ive got a bunch of joan baez, and a bunch of wild mountain thymes, but ne'er the twain have met. i'll have to hunt that up.
