Hello. I feel bad in admitting that I only joined to ask an Oscar Wilde question. XD
Hello everybody, I am very new :)) to this forum. I like reading poems and thats the main reason I join, so i can be updated on new ones!
My name's Lee, and I hail from Brooklyn, New York, by way of Los Angeles County, California. My interest is the great works of literature, from Homer to Joyce Carol Oates. My knowledge of recent fiction is non-existent, though if a book is original and imaginative 'and' I can relate to it somehow, I'm interested.

Hi lit fans,
I'm just a struggling reader and would-be writer hoping to discuss literary issues with people like who might actually be interested in them. People like that can be hard to find!
Cheers.
So as I sit here sipping on my V8 Infusion (subtle indication of my extreme coolness), I will say first off that none of this information will be earth-shattering. However, most of you will want to know my favorite book or author, and not only do I not have either but I have to longing to discriminate like that! I could tell you who I DO NOT like, but only if you ask.
Let’s get the boring ‘recommended’ stuff out of the way early, shall we? Goals? I’m going to school to be a social worker. Check. My hobbies are for the most part listed above. I’m a little nerdy and like to have fun. My musical taste is eclectic. I’m a lyrical person, and music is important to me. I could go on for days, so we’ll just leave it at that. I will say that I think musical taste is a great indicator of the type of person someone is, to the core.
Martha Stewart is slightly irritating. George Carlin and Demetri Martin are the ****.
Scented candles could make even the room from Saw I a cheerful place to curl up with a book.
I like surprises and spontaneity. I do not like, however, when someone says they have a surprise and taunt you. Cruel and unusual punishment. Keep it a secret until you’re ready to reveal it, por favor.
I twirl my hair when I’m uncomfortable, bored, pissed, or deep in thought. It’s ridiculous.
Kids are awesome.
I prefer fake flowers. Real ones die, which is why they are sent to people who are in the hospital dying or funerals where people are already dead.
I like salty foods. My sweet tooth is undersized and overly sensitive. Ouch! Mexican rocks, especially the free chips and salsa before the meal. Coffee is a staple.
I enjoy writing, when I’m able to get my thoughts in order. As a writer, I despise censorship.
I think mostly in quotes. Song lyrics, good sayings I’ve heard along the road……….
“Girls just wanna have fun.” So, so true. Please don’t be boring. Think, talk, laugh, and have fun; and make me think, talk, laugh, and have fun. For example, some of the items on my list of things to do before I get too old and die: ice skate, bungee jump/skydive, go to a hockey game, roller blade all day, marry my best friend and love of my life, become a mother, take karate classes, ski/snowboard, snorkel, road trip around the U.S., start a charity….the list goes on.
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” I’m a social work major, so it follows that I’m big on volunteering. I feel for people less fortunate than I, and although my life is nowhere near perfect I know that I am lucky. I cry at those damned commercials of the sad little puppies in animal shelters looking for a home. It’s that intense. So probably you should be able to feel compassion as well. I give everything I can and sometimes more. I’ve gone on mission trips, donated blood and money…..And other anonymous deeds that shall not be revealed since the point of the deed is indeed the deed itself, not the recognition. (Record for the most use of the word ‘deed’ in one sentence?)
I'm looking forward to babbling with you! Drink more water. Learn something. Try something new and exciting that’s out of your element. And have an intensely fantastic day.
It’s nice to meet you. =^D
Hi, folks.
New to this forum, but not to forums generally or this site.
I think the site is awesome, although it can be a bit tough to read a book a screen at a time on a BlackJack II (although I've done it with a couple).
Anyway, just a quick hi, hope you're all doing great.

Hello everyone!
I'm rae709. I'm the outcast of my senior class of 2010 of high school (all because I read). I love reading Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, Night by Elie Wiesel. I've also read A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hoseini. I like discussing history, music, and about reading different books.

Just joined, "newbie", sorta lost, but eager to learn. Anyway, a big, friendly Hello to all.
Hello everybody ! I love to read books, watch movies and listen to music.
Hello everyone,
hope you're all doing well.
I've just joined, so still new to how things are around here.
I love literature and reading.
I hope to get the hang of things soon and have fun here.
Don't know how much I'll be able to contribute seeing as the majority of the members on this are 15-29 year olds and I have shoes older than that! Been a published author since 1996. Second book was the very first group titles that were published by iUniverse, before everyone and their DOG jumped on the "I'm a published author" print-on-demand vanity press wagon.
Fiction titles: Red Wine for Breakfast and First Class Male - both now under contract with a literary agent. New novel Cry U.N.C.L.E., for those of you who may recall the spy spoof series of the 60's. Erotica, Journey to Dimension Nine 26 short stories. Lots of fun to research.
