I can never manage to grow anything apart from hair (which reminds me I need to visit that thread too).
Having cheese and tomato panini with tea... Left my text books at home so had to borrow a book from the library as well.
Chicken panini and tea.
Twinings Everyday tea(!) and a Toffee Crisp, 3 O'clock snack.
Mrs N bought me a pack of 4 Toffee Crisps yesterday. So I came to get one and there was one left, and I haven't had any. I also got bored of drinking average Tetley Tea so I bought myself some Twinings. Guests can finish off the Tetley.
Chai green tea with sugar and cream. Trying to cut down on the coffee :)
Peanut butter and toast and fruit from a can
A nice glass of red wine and I'm getting ready to make some kettle corn popcorn.
Meatloaf made with ground beef, previously baked sweet potatos, and plums. Romaine lettuce and rice. Dinner 7 PM
coffee, only my second cup today and it's already 11 o'clock!
Well after an entire day spent trying to catch a single fish - any fish! - and I've seen them, they're quite large and I don't know their names, I mean I don't know what species other than they're quite large fish. Doesn't matter anyway because they're bloody smart - not Einstein smart necessarily, but smart enough to not get caught. If I ever get my hands on one I'm taking it to a lab for intelligence testing - if I don't eat it first because they look mighty tasty.
Anyway they evaded capture like the professionals they indubitably are, and at about sunset I finally nabbed two teeny squibs within half an hour of each other. Good thing I had the foresight to soak some mixed beans or I might have developed protein deficiency.
Well, I wrapped them in alfoil with good olive oil, and had a hungee, which if you're unfamiliar is a bunch of buried potatoes, yams, carrots, onions, garlic etc, under a fire, and in this case two miserable little specimens of fishes (indeterminate pedigree) - and I forgot to bring lemons! There are so many lemons in supermarkets all around the world during all seasons that it didn't cross my mind that they'd be impossible to obtain only fifty miles from the nearest centre of civilisation! There are no lemons to be had anywhere! Well nowhere convenient near - but tomorrow I'm going to the coast and stocking up on decent bait and lemons, so all should be good.
Anyway they were quite yummy little blighters (though a squeeze of lemon would have been nice and was sorely lacking) and the rest of the feast worked out pretty well - spuds were a bit too burnt outside and undercooked inside, but that's the fault of having them too close to the surface and not baking long enough.
The beans became a side dish soup, and the ale strong and old (Cooper's Vintage - 3 months in the bottle) kept cold in the chilly billabong.
Entertainment was provided by the local Bunyip who was making all manner of strange tweeps and gurphs and branch shaking - freaky!

Just coffee at the moment. I keep thinking I need to put some real food into my belly, but I don't know what I'm in the mood for.
Barramundi!
Three foot long, weighed a ton, and fought like a trooper - but I won the day in the end. Curiously he wanted nothing more sophisticated than an Earthworm, and there I was yesterday trying to tempt his clan with bits of roast beef.
Also the sardines I caught yesterday weren't baby barramundi, but actually adult something else which I'd rather forget.
Anyway the taste of this bruiser was definitely worth the wait - succulent and juicy, and the first fish I've ever had that doesn't even need lemon juice, doesn't need anything - it's truly the most delicious yumfest just fried on the grill straight. Highly recommended.
Also rice salad and grape juice accompaniment.
