Hi all. I'm currently a junior in college, studying English literature. I'm a big fan of 20th century American literature, and I hope to specialize in that field when I go on to graduate school.
Hi Everyone, I'm Cassie...
I'm currently studying a Ba in English (via distant learning), i love to discuss about books, the problem is that my discussions are limited as i am a distant learner. I can't wait to start joining in these conversations and gaining new insights and ideas on texts that i hadn't thought of or realised.

Hey there, all. My name is Trevor. I'm 18. And I am an aspiring poet. I'm not great at it, but dammit, I try.
Hello,
I'm a new member and I thought I might as well introduce myself. I love to read and I've recently taken up writing again.
My all time favorite book would be The Catcher in the Rye. Other favorite books include Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov, 1984, and Slaughterhouse-Five. I also love the writings of Henry David Thoreau and enjoy reading about Eastern philosophy.
I am glad that I found this forum and look forward to reading more posts and getting to know the people here.
Howdy newcomers!
This is a great site, and the best way to start enjoying it is to participate in the discussions. You might enjoy the "general literature" forum and "general chat" forum, both of which have a strong and welcoming community.
So start a thread or post a reply.
Oh, and paradoxical: the more Thoreau fans the better, I say!
Hello to you all.
Apart from tapping sounds punctuating the silence as I write these words to be sent from my laptop Notebook PC, the only other noises I can hear are the soft whirring of the computer's internal fan, and the wind breezing through the row of poplar trees across the gully which my small office at the back of our house overlooks.
I am interested in writing that creates word pictures and imparts a sense of progress, thereby transporting the reader into dimensions of the mind that for various reasons, may be either safely familiar or as yet unexplored.
The concept that we each have a definable calling and vocation in life occupies me from time to time and I like to examine what it is that determines how well a person does having found their purpose in life.
Standing by...
Hey everyone,
I come from the sunny island of Singapore...well, a pretty boring place, so there's not much to say about it. I've always been fascinated by the brilliant insights some people give when analysing a text or poem, which is why I was looking for an online literature forum. By the way, researching George Orwell's 1984 brought me here, and it may have been one of the most depressing books I've ever read.
Cheers :)
