Regarding an earlier recent post, when Napoleon Dynamite came out, for a high school class I was substituting they couldn't find the physics video to be shown, so a student pulled out Napoleon Dynamite. I saw it four times. First time, -- sad comment on youth. Second -- hm, not bad. Third -- This grows on you. Forth time -- Wow! this is living!!
Probably virtually unknown... Populær Musik Fra Vitula. Translated meaning, Popular Music from Vitula.
Absolutely splendid... Read the book first of course, and the two don't compare, but i would rather watch it than some pop-smart American movie with highly paid actors.
Please if someone has actually seen this film, tell me!
9/10
I have heard of it, and a friend has recommended it to me, as I often love foreign films (I live in the U.S.). I have not yet seen it, but with this second recommendation, I think I may have to rent it. Thanks, Chava!Quote:

The young actors are almost beyond belief, they are so good. This could easily become melodramatic, but because of the actors it works. This movie is based on facts about trafficking and prostitution. My boyfriend could not stand to see the whole movie, so he went out in the kitchen and made us hot chocolate. They have showed this movie to politicians in Sweden and it started a great debate about trafficking and how to solve the problem.
It´s almost a part of social responsibility to see this movie, and I´ll give it 10 out of 10.
the shining. C-.
If I hadn't read the book, it would have been a B-.
they seem to think that having long shots of people walking down hallways is dramatic.
Which one did you see? The one by Kubrick with Jack Nicholson - or the new one by King himself?
I like the movie more (Kubrick's version) that the book version

Ditto. Only Kubrick could've done that. I mean, using an old indian burial ground in a movie and getting away with it.Quote:

The last flick I saw was Thirteen, starring Evan Rachel Wood, Holly Hunter, Nikki Reed and some others. It's about a thirteen year old girl who is struggling to be accepted by the popular girls. When she is accepted by them she gets swept up in drugs, alcohol, sex and all that good (bad) stuff. Out of 4 stars I give it 3 1/2. I recommend it to you all.
Psyche, dearest, and I rented an old, black-and-white Japanese film last night called Ikiru (a verb meaning "to live" in Japanese). What a touching film! Its plot certainly opens one's eyes, asking the question: "if you know you were to die soon, what would you do?" hence the title. I felt surprised at most parts of the film, as no part seemed predictable, but the ending did have a relatively strung-out conclusion.
My rating: 9.5/10.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
It is beautiful. It is Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet and they are magnificent together. The directing is great. The plot is great. The whole movie is just spectactular. Best real love story out there.. 10/10
to answer the previous question - I saw the one with Jack Nicholas ... i think thats the actor... in this one he used an axe instead of a croquet hammer.
