Gone Away
Well introductions are always difficult.
A little about myself, I was born and grew up in Montreal, I attended McGill University and received a degree in microbiology, and I enjoy reading when I have the time ;). So, I hope to enjoy my time here and not be too much of a burden.
Heya,
I'm Piglet and I'm 14 nearly 15.
I love to read and I love the Twilight Saga. I'm currently reading a book by Torey Hayden.
My Favourite authors are Stephenie Meyer, Jodi Picoult and Torey Hayden.
I look forward to reading and posting into the forums.
See you around :)
Hello everybody.
I love so much some of the English literature that I have decided to participate in this forum, although I'm afraid that I could not contribute very much for English is not my mother tongue.
Read you soon.
Hello all, glad to be a member of a forum again - it's been years since I was a regular poster.
I've always been in love with reading (see my username/4th grade nickname). Growing up in a tiny town in the rural Midwest, books have always been a key factor in my entertainment and imagination. I am on a mission of sorts to read novels acknowledged to be great works of literature, while still enjoying my Nora Roberts collection. I hope to find suggestions on this forum, as my list of great novels from the Modern Library suspiciously contains many books published by the Modern Library and doesn't contain any books written after 1970.
Later.
Hello..wow i have no idea how to post things such as my poems ha im a dumb kid
I enjoyed reading this thread and thought I'd add my bit. Greetings to all; I have been looking for a community like this for a while and was glad to stumble across this site. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone.
As for myself: I have been an avid but highly unorganized reader, home schooled through high school. After a brief foray into university-level piano performance studies, I stepped out of academia for some years, earning a certification in teaching ESL/EFL and working in various music-related positions. Now in my mid-twenties I am beginning to earn a bachelor's degree in English language and literature.
Outside of words I work as a barista and a professional harpist. I am marrying a man soon who is truly above all others. To him I say in Anne Bradstreet's words,
"If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee.
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can."
I don't know how much I will be able to post on these boards but I feel privileged to join. Thanks all!
Hello, all. I'm 23, graduated this past summer with an English degree (Creative Writing track) and have been slowly spreading myself out all over the interwebz in recent months. You can find me on DeviantArt, blogspot (under thevulpesfulva), and writing.com. There are other sites to which I also belong, but I don't think it's necessary to post my Web history here.
Anyway, I hope to put up some of my stuff, both new and old, onto my blog here.
Happy reading and writing!
hi, im alexray, im from the united states and im 17. I enjoy reading, but not writing. i found this site doing research on F.Scott Fitzgerald. There is so much interesting stuff here!
Hello everyone!
I guess I'll take a few minutes to introduce myself. I'm a 22 year old married female, and I just moved to Maryland. I found this site after searching around for a decent forum where people discuss literature on all levels, from serious to just giving opinions. I read a few topics and really thought I could add a little to the place. It seems to be a more verbal group, as suppose to Goodreads or Amazon where most conversations are review-based.
I started reading heavily a few years ago when me and my husband packed up with his immediate family and moved to Georgia. I'm originally from Baltimore, and being so close to the city I read a little but there are so many distractions I never thought seriously about books. But once I moved from the city to the country, I found myself with minimal entertainment, a lot of free time, and not enough things to fill my day. Then I discovered literature.
It's been three years since then and I've read a little from every time period and a wide range of authors. I've decided to return to college and pursue my English degree. I'm looking to get an MLS and eventually become a librarian.
Oh, and I love the Boston Redsox. :D
alright, hi.
my username is actually a moniker i thought of for who is arguably my favourite musican, Anton Newcombe of the Brian Jonestown Massacre.
(if you've never heard of them, kindly do yourself a favour and listen. if you have, let's be friends.)
the nickname i (begrudgingly) go by is Mimi; it's disguising an even more undesirable real name.
i can never seem to describe myself in one or two clean sentences, as most seem to be able to, for they are varied, skewed, and more often than not are simply perceived as odd, to some degree. But here, I'll try:
I think in Serbian, speak in English, dream in French, struggle when reading Dostoevsky and Pushkin in Russian, and am learning German with a reckless abandon. I am eternally, inexplicably fascinated and in love with the majestic city of Vienna, rain and monsoons, far too many writers and poets to name, sleeping, the science of dreams, the moon, medicine, psychology, and the stillness and comfortable melancholia that comes with winter.
