Greetings, my name is Cletus and I am an aspiring writer who tends to view the world through a darker glass than most. While not wealthy, I do live in a gated community in California. My hobbies are reading, writing, and outdoor weightlifting. I look forward to sharing views with other literature lovers. I just revisited Pygmalion and it occurred to me that one underlying theme of this outwardly cheery tale actually is the exploits of an aging pedophile. Does anyone else see that?

I'm not a new user, but I've been gone for a while so I figured I'd drop in and re-intorduce myself. My name is Dustin and I live in Clarksville, Tennessee, but I'm originally from Tampa, Florida. I'm a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, and I spent the first half of 2009 deployed to the Middle East. I'm looking forward to seeing some old familiar faces (or avatars) and meeting the users who have joined since I left.

This seems the perfect forum. I may even start a blog and muse a bit on the feelings that have been evoked during this enduring, tropical summer. I have made my mind up to read all the books I have collected over the years and allowed to catch dust on my bookshelves. I have never parted with a single book in my life and our storage space has since dwindled.

Hello to the wide-world of the Literature Network :wave:, My name is Megan and I just wanted to properly introduce myself! So here goes it.
I joined the Literature Network for two reasons. The first and foremost being that I love Literature of course and I enjoy meeting and discussing Literature with others who share this delightful addiction. The second reason I joined is I am writing a novel and I hope in time I could get feedback from others who have an eye and an ear for good storytelling.
A couple years back I graduated at ASU with a major in Political Science and a Minor in Social Justice and I was supposed to head back to get my MA, but I opted out instead so I could spend time writing--not the best of career choices but certainly the most fulfilling! Who had time for fettered dissertations when there is creativity bursting at the hands?!
Traveling back a little more, to when I was but a wee minnow, is around the time I learned the enslaving power of words-- ideas that sizzle in the thought space like a slow-cooked meal and escapism to other times and places through wakeful dreams. These are the phenomena that I first discovered after reading the Little House on the Prairie Series in 1st Grade. My first "Chapter Books." It was all uphill from there. I read everything I could get my hands on: The Secret Garden, Robin Hood, Little Women, and the on and on into books for "bigger people."
This lasted until I was about 18. And then, it happened-- the great “switch.” I had begun another love affair, one very different in execution but just as rewarding in outcome. I found the “other” world. The world of Non-fiction! In a flash of an eye I was submerged in Noam Chomsky, Emma Goldman, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Peter Kropotkin, Jean Jacques Rousseau, John Pilger, Frederick Douglas, Mark Twain, Naomi Klein, Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, Joseph Campbell, Karen Armstrong, Bertrand Russell, Ward Churchill, Burnett Bolloten, and many others.
For awhile I stopped reading fiction completely. Had I lost my long time passion now that there were ‘real’ ideas enlightening me? That there where places and times that had existed without embellishment?! Who needed the world of make-believe?
Well, I did. After a many years of politicks, philosophy, sociology, history, current affairs and the like, I knew there was something missing in my well read world. I enrolled in a Post-Colonial Sci-Fi Literate Course my senior year of college and KaZamm, in a flash of an eye I was back.
So that is a little slice of the Megan pie, I don’t want to dish out the entire meal and overstay my welcome!

I'm Greek, 17 years old.I'm still a high-school student,final round!!In one year from now i'll be going at the university,i wanna be a teacher.I'm often dreaming of becoming a writer or a poet, too,but i know that 'd be pretty difficult...!!
I love reading books in their writer's own language,dislike translations!they make me think they kind of ''annihilate'' the writer's own thought and inspiration...that's the reason i'd like to study and learn many many languages...i can only speak english,german and greek,while i can understand ancient greek and latin,so far...but I love prototypes!!!
i love collecting second-hand, old books;i feel they've got a history,but family and friends feel i'm mad...yeap..!sometimes,having no books to read,i like just staying still and taking my surroundings in.it's not much,but it's relaxing and inspiring...i strongly dislike tv and computers...the latter i need though...!I also like cooking,and i love flowers and gardening...shame i don't have time!!
i started reading english literature recently...wuthering heights simply amazed me; W.Shakespeare 's a genius.my approval isn't something he's interested in,though,i think!!

Ok here goes. Im Ellie and im 15. I joined this because i am currently writing a story and i just wanted to know peoples views on whether its good or not. I enjoy singing ive taken part in many choirs and things like that. I cant easily socialise with people if i dont know but i do love getting to know people and helping them with their problems ect :)
