I can remember pretty much all the way back. I have images in my head from when I was in a crib in my parents' room. I know I had to be less than about 1 and 1/2 years old, because my memories are all of not being able to make myself understood. The funny thing is, the me inside my head in the memories is the same me I am now, if that makes sense. Just with a feeling of, "*sigh* These parents are so oblivious! They can't understand what I'm trying to tell them. This is so exasperating." .... Come to think of it, not very different from the way it is now. :p
What is your handwriting like? (Do you print or write in cursive? big, small? neat, messy?)
-
Terrible, huge, messy letters. I am quite sure there are 5 year olds who are neater than I am.
Are you happy with what you accomplished today?
-
no, i was wretching (is that the correct word... my body was trying to vomit, but only bile would come) with disgust.
where have all of you been? I haven't seen you guys in forever.
-
That's what I've been wondering. I think everyone just abandoned the place until it stopped effing. But I've been here. And Admin says he thinks the glitches are fixed now so... woohoo.
Does your life in its current state have meaning?
-
much more! At last I've met the right person.
Have you ever heard about Turkish singer Tarkan?
(on 27th May he came to Baku. I haven't been at such great concert for a long period. 70.000 people attended there)
-
Holy moley, that's a lot of people. No, I've never heard of him. What kind of songs does he sing?
And: What's the greatest distance you've travelled to go to a concert?
-
The only concert I went to was in my campus and that was only 5 minutes away from the class I was in.
What was something inedible that you ate anyway?
-
bug soup (beetle to be precise, dont ask)
what is your favorite vegetable?
(my son and i just finished feasting on fresh artichokes; i had forgotten how wonderful they are)
-
Mmm...boiled artichoke hearts baked with brown sugar inside. :D I'm not a big veggie person, though...boiled celery is good in soup. Corn. Corn works.
Did Billy Boyd lip syncing Annie Lennox spoil the moment for you in Return of the King? It just seems wrong on so many levels. I cringed the whole way through the song.
-
unfortunately (fortunately?) i didnt see that occurence so i am unable to answer that question, but i am also tired of waiting for someone else to get around to it. on a side note, i found out last night that Annie Lennox and Sting are playing in my 'soon to be' home city, the night before my birthday. i made large hints to honey, looks like i know what im getting for the next b-day!!
so...a question? can it be two parts? was that my question? am i in the wrong thread? hehehe
how many concerts have you been to? and who was it that you saw?
-
Unfortunately, I've only seen four (not counting local garage-band shows, since they obviously don't count). Even more unfortunately, three of them were with my mother, since she was the one driving. :( But luckily, she ain't a bad mom, even though she denied me the June2000 NIN/A Perfect Circle show for which I will never forgive her and have told her repeatedly. Again, I digress... I saw Deftones/Incubus in fall 2000, APC (finally)/Snake River Conspiracy/Cave-In spring 2001 (on the floor, 3 or 4 bodies back, very cool, best... show... ever.), Ozzy/Rob Zombie/Soil winter 2001, and Lollapalooza with Jane's/Audioslave/Incubus/Queens of the Stoneage in July2003. But The Cure and Muse are coming around on Aug.7! -- GOD, I must go to that. Probably be sold out by the time I have any money.
If you could only see one more concert in your life, who would it be?
-
Kenny G.
Bah hahahahah (only joking)
If you could bring him back, I'd do anything to see Stevie-Ray one last time.
Could Woodstock have been any better?
-
I wasn't at Woodstock, dude, but the only way it could have been better is if Iron Butterfly hadn't got stuck at the airport.
My only connection to Woodstock is that I have a necklace that was made there. Maybe I've said that already. Oh well, I'll say it again: the tear-drop peace sign pendant I'm wearing in my pic (it's somewhere on here. go digging.)...well, it was stamped at Woodstock with a bunch of others. Then somehow it wound up at the Kriskringelmart in Nuremburg a couple years later and my dad bought it. Then he gave it to my mom when he met her a couple years after that, then it hung on our kitchen wall for years and years, then the day we invaded Iraq I asked if I could have it to wear, and now I wears it all the time. :)
Why on Earth did anyone think a Woodstock '94, much less '99, would work??
-
that was one of the dumbest things i've heard in this lifetime. couldn't tell you, em.
what was the last toy you bought? (be clean, people! (no pun intended ;)) i just spent 20 minutes playing with my new vacuum.)
-
I haven't bought ANYTHING in months. I'm not kidding, not a single thing. My parents finally closed the Bank of Foster, and my job search continues. I've had $3.63 rotting in my wallet since March. But casting my memory back...I think the last thing I bought was purple hair dye.
What's the longest it's taken you to read a book?
-
Well it took me a few months, essentially all of last summer to read The Death of Arthur in old english by Sit Thomas Mallory.
Have you stopped all work or activities due to the observation or fasination of a slug or snail?
-
not slugs or snails, but spiders..yesireeeee
i love spiders (or most of them anyway, but sort of like people, there are just some you need to avoid for your own health!) but i can seriously watch one for quite some time, and i encourage them to spin webs in my house near windows to catch bugs and keep them off of my plants.
have you every caught a frog and tried to keep it?
-
If I ever were inclined to say something girly it would be in regard to spiders, that girly phrase being: I LOVE SPIDERS.
-
oh wow....seriously?? i think that makes you the only other girl that admits that.
YAY, sister! :thumbs_up
-
um, how is that girly? (that being the criteria, i am not girly, though i take them outside whole.)
-
By girly I meant the phrase, "I love...", not the actual adoration, infatuation, facination, and respect for spiders.
-
hey, back to topic pleae ;)
-
Last I saw a frog when I was 10 and had no wish to catch and keep it. It was quite ugly.
Are frogs really tasty?
-
[QUOTE=emily655321]Holy moley, that's a lot of people. No, I've never heard of him. What kind of songs does he sing?
QUOTE]
em, Tarkan sings pop-music. Holly Valance sang one of his songs (about kiss) in english.
-
ya we used to fry frogs, it is a delicacy in south india. well it has been long time since i ate one, maybe when i was small.. it is usually served at high costs at toddy shops in kerala (india). i dont remember the taste exactly, but sure it must have been tasty. it is the thigh part most delicious.
do you think people are largely pretentious? how natural are you, in daily life..?
-
I think most people try to project the image they want others to see. The difference is that some people want people to think they're someone they really aren't. I'm very self-conscious around other people, but I have a pretty strong personality and I act very impulsively. I can't help being just me.
Do you think people would like you as much if they saw what you are like when no one is around? Or are you just the same?
BTW, Ravana -- I googled Tarkan and listened to a couple of his songs. It's not the kind of music I like, but boy oh boy is he ever CUTE! :D  You should add him to the Drooling thread.
-
certainly, em. He's very cute, his eyes are incredible. I can't say I'm his fan. But like his some songs: "kish guneshi" ( the winter sun), "bu gece" (tonight), "kuzu-kuzu" (like lamb), "gulumse kaderine" (try smiling to your fortune).
His dancing is most incredible. And he's very genuine. That was most what I liked in him during the concert.
I'll try to add him to that thread just for you, if I won't have any problem with attachment again. By the way if you liked him, then you will certainly like other turkish ones who are as cute as he's.
-
in response Em's question, i certainly hope so, although of course, it depends on the person. we all have certain hats that we wear and our behaviours change depending on the situations, but there are people who i feel free enough to be me around all the time. mostly i think i try and tone down my exuberant personality when i am in public (why? last week i answered the phone at work and the person on the other end asked me to grab Amanda for them {she's my boss}, and i replied the first thing that came into my head: "sure, where would you like me to grab her?" and it was her dad )
how many "hats" do you wear on a regular basis and what are they?
-
2 on a regular basis - one knitted green beret, and one hat in dark red corduroy.
I also have hat iblack velvet saved from my goth period, but I do not use it any more.
How much coffee do you use per cup when you make coffee?
(An american friend claims swedes are crazy because we use at least one huge tablespoon of coffee per cup. So now I thought I should ask here . )
-
i have no idea really how to measure, i have this miniature 'flour' scoop and i use three of those per pot, but i like my coffee really strong too. i also buy my coffee fromTim Hortons or else we grind the beans ourselves at home, so the measurements vary depending on the type of coffee used.
do you have a preference for one brand, or do you just buy whatever is on sale?
-
I always buy coffee from a fairtrade brand - for more info try this site.
http://www.fairtrade.org.uk/
In short the fairtrade program is about decent pay to the farmers for their products, democratic structure and no child labour.
Coffee without the sour aftertaste of slave labour. It´s good for you. And that was my a slightly political statement for the day.
I think I´ll just ask my old question again - how many tablespoons of coffee per cup do you use?
-
I dont drink coffee, but when I cook for my mum i put 2 like she told me to.
What was the latest book u fell in love with? (I meen really ... really liked?)
-
Blindness by Jose Saramago (sorry to mention it again but it was really good!!)
What is the last book you hated but read anyways?
-
Hunchback. That was an obvious one. Actually, I always finish books once I start. I hate not knowing what happens. There was one I actually put down for good, but I can't think of it now.
Do you bring an extra book along when you travel, just in case you finish (even if you know you won't need it)?
-
i usually take only one book (mostly fiction) which is very simple (to read), for light reading, which can take me out of a possible headache and which i wud be able to finish on the journey. anyways i do take one magazine as well, in case the book fails to rescue me.
do you like to be in the darkness more or in the light. do you like to be alone or in the crowd? up to what extent? why?
-
i like both the light and dark equally, for different reasons; i love bright sunshine, i find it rejuvenating. but i love night as well cause it always seems to be more mysterious. i love crowds. of course, there are times for each crowds and solitude , but i generally prefer busy crowded areas.
when you hook up with old friends after a long separation, do you find it awkward, or do you just slip back into old routines?
-
My best friend and I see each other about once every three months, but when we do it's like we just saw each other the day before. It's wonderful. My other friends are the same to a certain extent, but I think that's just because the only ones I keep, and contact again after a long separation, are those with whom I have that type of familial relationship. But generally all our family friends are like that, too; no matter how long it's been, we're very casual and close.
How long does it take of being out of touch with someone before you assume it would be inappropriate to contact them again? Do you assume people have forgotten about you?
-
Yes. roughly eight years.
'There are no stupid questions, only stupid people' so I'm not going to ask anything. :D
-
That isn't very nice of you. :p
Same question, then.
-
My answer and question is, does this mean the end of this thread?
