My favourite books and authors are in my profile, no use to write them again here.
I found the website while looking for Percy Shelley's works.

Hi
I'm interested in the literature of any outsiders, women, gays, blacks, whoever. I'm currently plowing my way thru Southern literature, and having a ball.
Hello everybody,
I am happy to join the forum at last. I have known and used this site for about three years but never tried to take part in the discussions. Obviously, now the time is ripe.
Technically, I am a teacher of German and a lecturer in the history of the German language, at a university in the Land of Absurd, as I often call my country (that I actually love), but I am also a big fan of the English-speaking and especially English-writing world, which is why I am here.
Hope to have a great time with all of you!
hello everyone!
Im a long time reader, first time poster. Thought i would actually get involved for once!
a little about me: i live in Winnipeg, Canada. i like to read, play guitar and scuba dive. Im trying to start writing, so if you have any advice it would be helpful.
Hi. I'm so glad I stumbled on this site. Everyone here sounds interesting I realy wish I could meet people like you out of the cyber world. Well... about me... I love reading(any book as long as its good), I write too and one of my dreams is to publish my own novel. For a person who reads alot I have extremly bad spelling, so bear with me please and meanwhile I'll try to improve.I also love history, music and musicals. What else? Oh I'm in highschool but I'm constantly reminded that I act way older;just today a friend commented that I talk of highschool students like I'm not one of them but a wise mature adult musing on the ways of children. I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not... I gues thats it. Later.
Hullo everyone, stumbled upon this site and decided to get involved since I'm interested in writing :D

Howdy !
My nom de plume 'tailor STATELY' comes from an anti-spam prompt I came upon when registering on this forum... I kind'a like it. I've also 'borrowed' one of the smilies I've found in your forum that I took a shine to (smilie bashing computer monitor)... Cute!
I live in Cali up in the gold country of the Sierra Nevada Mountain foothills. I love nature, the countryside, and have fond memories of the ocean from my youth - to just about 20 some odd years ago. I yearn for the seashore.
I write poetry, but lack a certain polish from my five-or-so-years at poetry.com. You snicker... I heard you ! LOL, anyway... I'm one of those who whiled the hours away playing the "Poetry in Motion" 'tiles' to form a poem or some such; and plied an occasional Haiku to the ęther.
So, I'm here to learn from the ground up ( my Newark High School English teacher, Ms. Korman, would be soooo proud ! ).
I leave you with one of my better "Poetry in Motion" entries as an offering of love:
Enchant Me...
Your very being
a desire for answer
Lament not
your unassailable
mystery
Enchant me with
your dreams

Hey, I'm new to this website and have come here to meet new people and see what they think of my writing! Will put some stuff up soon! xXx
Where can I find writing contests? Are there any writing contests?
Lucky to have accidentally noted this site...Now I think itz time for an introduction.I have an M.phil in English language and literature and dream of taking a Ph.d in the same...An enthusiastic and energetic individual, with a passion for reading and discussing about literary matters with people with same interest, I am here. my hobbies include definitely reading, then browsing and after all these I love to enjoy the beauty of nature. The turning point in my life was my decision to do my post graduation in literatue after doing my graduation in science. Now realise it as my cup of tea...I prefer to read fictions and biographies. It is enough for now I think...more from me later...:)
Hello,
My name is Robin. I'm from Canada, I'm 21 and I'm female. I'm a student at the University of Alberta, but I'm not in any particular faculty or program yet because I like every subject except for math and I take a long time to decide anything. I'm one of those people who will have a lot of careers and professions before I die, because I can't decide on anything and I'm always discontent. I absolutely hate academic competition.
I don't believe in anyone's god, and I never will. I think its silly to speculate about religion because they all seem dubious.
I read a lot (like everyone here) and I ask a lot of questions. I know that I'd make a better scientist then anything else, but I sometimes find science heartless and far too competitive.
My grammar and vocabulary is usually pretty good, but I often have very poor spelling. Sometimes simple words seem to fall right out of my brain. I forgot how to spell the word "could" last week.
Anywho... I'm glad to have found this site. I used to post on another forum where I made a lot of friends, but one day it stopped existing.
Writing can be an excellent avocation for any active mind. And practical math is something that grows on you once you realize how much you sue it every day -- so don't worry about it as long as you stay in the Humanities and Liberal Arts.
Most of the purpose for academic math is to teach logic and linearity, which is always tough for a mental shotgun to handle. You might take a look at a couple of computer programming classes.
Spelling is important, but once again, not something to worry about in first drafts (draughts) ... and your language structure and grammar are outstanding You will probably find that your spelling becomes less automatic as your vocabulary expands, especially if you are a phonics-trained reader/writer. Most writers become compulsive editors of their own (and other's) work, but this is just part of the process. The biggest "burr under my saddle" is making sure I am saying exactly what I want the reader to "hear."
As to what you are going to do for the rest of your life, the only intelligent mandate is "live." For this the best starting point is answering, thoughtfully,
this question: "If money were no object, what is it I would like to do with my time." If your answer is reading and writing, become a teacher. If you love history, think about cultural anthropology. If you love the outdoors, think about geology or Earth Science. But if they all seem to fit, go back to being a researching writer.
Sorry about the length and intensity of this response, but I just can't quit teaching "outside the box."

Hi! I'm new to forums in general and since reading and writing are my first loves I thought I'd post a hello :) I'm 22 and I'm an English Student graduate who is pursuing creative writing...
Everyone seems so interesting that I might steal them for characters
I like reading everything and am open to suggestions (PS: Virgil, I love Byzantium, one of my favorites)
I'm Canadian and think much Canadian literature is underrated elsewhere, although every country has great fiction and poetry, so I am going to broadcast canadian literature as much as I can!
Its great to see so many students of literature here... learning is life no?
