Raw heat in the summertime sunshine
Figs should be ripening and bold deer amble
At will in daylight nibbling early plums -
Climbing our property's hillside effortlessly

California quail with their young make their
Furtive rounds wary of our cat Rosie -
Running like the dickens when a threat
is perceived - at flight when in need

Robert's home caught on fire near dusk, just
A hoot and two hollers from us - thankfully
Not igniting our wooded tinder dry hills -
Pray our community will avail with open arms

Family traditions are of paramount importance,
as they knit related lives close together.
Sometimes however they place the family in a bubble
creating dilemmas
eventually exposing
an underlying wilderness.

The dove's nest

Under the eaves of the roof
a conspicuous nest
reveals the secret work
of those jolly messengers of peace.
It´s true that doves gurr instead of singing,
but they reward their neighborhood
with a mosaic of discreet colors.

Liked the stairs, but poor rich women with osteoporosis.

The quaking cottage
It was a small house beside a gallery
The sight of that shaky cottage
had an hypnotic effect on me.
It was a precarous enchantment.
The button in the entrance,
when pressed
gave forth an eerie sound.
Not even garlic would drive away
the kindred spirits of their abode,

On The Sing Of Capricorn

His four hoofs solidly
planted on the ground,
come wind, come rain,
sometimes sun,
sometimes snow
and then sun again.
It doesn´t budge.

In its stubborn stillness
it resembles a caricature
of a bronze statue,
a whim of careless nature,
that chooses the gowns
for its numerous creatures
to celebrate creation.

Goin' underground now -

Goin' underground now -
the grinding of old bones have ceased
Flames never appealed to me -
being put in an urn; my laughter forgotten
A headstone instead where one might come 'round
to see my name and read a poetic inscription
accompanied by an angel blowing a trumpet
I'd like to think I passed on at my peak
spiritually prepared for a joyous reunion

Animal Paradise

A distant country
Seen though massive curtains of fog!
The proud peacock at the entrance
exhibits its elegant fan
and there they are all of them:
tigers, lions, foxes, elephants
and the cheeky little apes frolicking
on ever green trees along with chanting birds.
Fierce animals mingle with tame ones,
and there is enough food and water for all.
There are no masters and no hunters,
no sweating for prestige.
No one knows the meaning of
boredom and humanity.
