I had no problem with the acting or the characterizations, but more with the pace and storyline. I think it's worth seeing, but there's no way that I'd catagorize this as one of my favorites.Quote:

i saw the 'Lizzie McGuire' movie the other day on cinemax (or was that HBO? StarWorld?) and it seems far from what may happen in reality. they say that somewhere in the world you will find one person who looks exactly like you (and hey, waht do you know, that someone might be someone around the LitNet?) but the movie's ending is too much of a fantasy. isabella wouldn't just give the number at the IMVA to lizzie. 3/10....

I saw that at the drive in movies this past weekend, I liked it but I liked some of Pixar's other movies better (Toy Story and Monsters, Inc are my 2 favs that they did) I give Cars a solid 7/10. :thumbs_up The second feature at the driveins was "RV"...meh, not so much .... kinda dopey.Quote:

Not really, I have not watched many Indian movies but there was one, "Kal Ho Na Ho" which I really liked. Otherwise, I find most of new Indian movies a little bit over. I mean acting is over and themes are oh so old. (always about a girl and a guy, nothing other than romance) Well, I don't have a right to call Indian Film Industry bad because our own (Pakistani) Film Industry is even worse, good for nothing.Quote:

Yes Pensive, there is this movie "Bhagban" that I have seen. Its about how kids treat their parents when they grow old. I did not like it very much, coz it portrayed kids as devils who dont care about their parents. My mother liked it very much as she was watching it from parents perspective. Eventually in the end peace prevails and both the parties happily live ever after.
Last night I watched Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star out of the worst cases of boredom. It had its humorous parts, I must admit, but the plot, itself, seemed rather predictable and unoriginal. I usually like David Spade's acting, his dry humor, but, regarding the movie itself, I cannot say many good things. :p
My rating: 5/10.
I love the scene where Dickie and all the former child stars are playing poker, that scene alone made watching the movie almost worth it. ;)Quote:

But it works out in the end because Ethan Hawke is a more resolved, refined police officer.

I went to the drivein theater this past weekend and saw X-men 3 and the remake of The Omen. X-men was pretty good, but my BF complained because the story line was changed quite a bit from the original comics. The Omen was blah, I had to leave during the middle anyway. I sometimes take my dog with us (it is the drivein, remember, not a regular theater. ;) ) and there was a fireworks show going on nearby. Dillon gets very afraid of fireworks and he kept trying to climb in the front seat with us.
Superman, it gets 5 of 10
I just watched Onegin with Ralph Fiennes and Liv Tyler. I'm not a huge Liv Tyler fan but she wasn't nearly as annoying in this movie as she was in LOTR and Ralph Fiennes was, as always, fabulous. It stayed quite faithful to the book which is good, although it was even more brooding than the novel but I love brooding so that worked for me. The odd thing about this movie is that it was so slow moving and I'm not talking about the plot, I'm talking about the physical movements of the actors, seriously, I've never seen a movie where people walk sooooooo slowly. I don't know if it was because of their super duper dandy clothes or the directors attempt at setting a mood but it was downright distracting. And Ralph Fiennes' hair was very...fancy. :rolleyes: I give it an 8 out of 10.
Man on Fire, with Denzel. Tough in one scene (the fingers scene); great story; very well acted; great cinematography.
Yesterday evening, I watched Underworld Evolution through the strong coaxing of my younger brother. I apologize if anyone here enjoyed the movie, but (*sigh), I thought it a plotless set of television frames that only had sex and violence to offer. On the brighter side, the special effects seemed decent, I suppose.
My rating: 2/10.

Save The Last Dance.
I didn't have a choice to watch this. Well, I did, but I only voted by it for accident. At school yesterday we were given a choice of DVDs to watch, and seeing as I'd never seen this before, I decided to vote for it. If I'd realised it was going to be all about hip-hop, I might have had second thoughts (I don't have any interest in hip-hop, I'm afraid).
The idea was nice. I thought the plot sounded interesting, and I suppose the way the ballet was mixed with contemporary dancing was well done, but I ended up feeling irritated with Julia Stiles's character, instead of feeling sympathetic like you were supposed to. I also found that the plot dragged in places. The best thing you could say about Save The Last Dance, I suppose, is that the dancing is well choreographed. The main fault was that the characters seemed bland and two dimensional, and that I ended up not really caring if the girl was accepted into the dance school or not.
4/10. Not horrific, but personally I didn't enjoy it very much.
Last night . . . *sigh, I had a horrible night . . . but I watched a movie called Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, a fairly recent movie.
I had heard decent things of it, of its dark humor (which I always, always love), its twisted plot, thrilling scenes, and a brainy plot. The storyline, itself, reminds me of a classic 'who-done-it?' type of plot, but in a very modern setting; its satirical theme, too, reminded me of something Quentin Tarantino would direct (and I had to look twice to see the name of the director, Shane Black).
Anyway - wonderful movie, dark, twisted plot, excellent storyline, and dark humor that almost (not quite) compares to one of my favorite directors, Wes Anderson.
My rating: 9/10.
Went to the drivein movies again this past weekend as I did last weekend. In total we saw Poseidon, Superman Returns, Cars (they showed it again) and Pirates of the Caribbean 2, dead man's chest.

Cars 7/10 was my original rating, but after a second viewing (and it held up very well! ) I give it an 8.5/10

Pirates has just opened and I think it was very cute, good fun...and the drivein was PACKED! Must have been over 300 cars....

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I have not read the original story, only a summary of it. The movie is very different; for example, there is no love potion. Also, (not to give away the ending), Tristan appears more noble and heroic in the movie than the stories.

One of my favorites.
I saw Superman Returns last weekend because Pirates was sold out.
Kent wasn't clumsy enough, Lois wasn't distracted enough, and Superman looked too much like a cartoon. If I say the worst part I'd ruin it for those who haven't seen it. I'll just say that that the story line ruined Superman's good upstanding moral character for me. (though in Superman II it started to crumble, this movie made it collapse altogether).
The only saving grace was Kevin Spacey. If it wasn't for him, I might have walked out.
