I would like to have a nice blazer (and perhaps a matching skirt or trousers too), but I have pretty much given up the hope of ever finding one that fits, and I don't want to pay a fortune to get one tailored to my measurements...

Doh! I can never find blazers, the arms are always too long. I think most blazers are made for gorillas or more likely my arms, like my legs are short.
Blazers make me itchy, along with suits and just about any formal clothing :sick:
Where, oh where are these blazers with sleeves that are too long? I can't believe there is such a garment - I am longing for a Useful Blazer to see me through the summer but all the sleeves are two to three inches above my wrist. It was ever thus. It isn't even as if 5'10" is all that tall these days.
Clothes manufacturers have got the message about trousers - I can get trousers long enough these days but they don't seem to have cottoned on to the fact that if you have long legs you are quite likely to have long arms too.
Those pretty maxi dresses would come way above my ankles - the panel dress I still fancy is shown in the catalogue as a long dress on the models but previous purchases tell me it will come half way down my calves which I find a comfortable length.
my local department store now caters suits for short and tall people. Its great! I can get suit jackets that fit! One of the clothes stores in town, A-Wear, has jeans that come in four lengths, 27", 29", 31" and 33". 29" is my leg. I've friends who are 27". It never made sense to me that for years the clothes were are all messured for average height of about 5'5" with leg size 31", especially seeing as in Ireland, I AM average height. We are a nation of shortys.
No problem here. Always right. As long as I go to H&M for blazers because size 36 in Europe is actually too big. It fits, but 34 is better. But that is only in H&M as they cater for teenagers too... 36 is normally the smallest in all other shops. Though the rest of my clothing is fine...
Although, I have a problem with the back of trousers in the waist area... Most people would complain too tight, but I have always a piece of fabric that is too much is seems... It's not that bad, but anyway, I have had it since I was a teenager. No matter how long my mother and I looked, there was just no pair of trousers that didn't have it. I guess I'll have to gain fat on my back? ;)
Oh, yes, I can actually moan about this: has anybody with small breasts also noticed that tops and dresses are always made for people with bigger ones and that you then have two bags under your armpits? This has really become a problem in Germany now... Women seem to be too 'breasty' and so, Hunkemöller for nighties, no-no. To H&M again. There they might know about teenagers whose breasts are not yet grown to their full size. Shame that I am my full size at a grand A :D.
Mind you, living in a country where the usual woman is at least size 38 is great! In the sales in shops like Pro Mod you get a big choice, better than in Belgium where I come from. And your shoes are equally cheap :D. Though there is nothin for me in Marks and Spencer... They starts at 38 :(. I am 'petite' so to say...
Some tops i try on i have to take off because they are not designed for people with fuller breasts. The top could be the right size, but the bust area looks like i've just tried to squeeze into a kids top!
I so know what you mean about the trousers! Looks fine from the front but big gap at the back? I get that, but i put it down to the fact i've a big bum.
I find I can't wear anything button down for that reason Niamh. I've been having luck with some of the drapey tops that are popular at the moment. This one works great, my only complaint is that I must wear a tank top under it. the neck hole is huge and it is forever falling off my shoulder. It's simply not made for someone as all around tiny as me, and since I didn't buy in the petite section, the shirt isn't sized to accommodate my smaller frame. I like it enough, that I've been considering getting the other color of the same top I only have the puple/gray one at the moment, but I think I'll get the blue/green one as well:)

I know I'm not really supposed to be in this thread, but I'm ganna sneek in for a second so I can say this: It's almost impossible to get the right braw size for most women, there is one place in new york however, and the only place in the country, that has custom fit braw sizes. Most people don't fit into the normal "cups". (Of course I'm not talking from experience... I saw it on discovery channel (maybe a documentry idk) a few years ago.)Quote:
