Hey Y'all! I'm a 48 year old otherwise educated person who has read almost no literature. As a kid, I thought I liked to read but the truth was I'd just sit with a book and stare at the page reading the same words over and over. I got through HS with cliff notes and college without taking a single lit course. It wasn't until a few years ago when I was finally diagnosed with ADHD that I found out what I thought was mild dyslexia was vastly improved by taking one silly little pill. What a lot of time I've wasted! So, I decided to try and start catching up on the world's great literature. I started with Moby Dick, which was intriguing but didn't strike me as something that should be called 'great'. In trying to understand it better, I found your forum. Lots of well thought out entries. I've never participated in something like this but am looking forward to it. I think I'll try to finish Dante's Inferno next. I started it a few years ago when my daughter took a HS course on it, but I couldn't keep up. Any other suggestions?
