Hi everyone, new here. it looks like a great site, glad to have made my way here. :)
WElcome all. This place is fantastic ;)
Big welcome to everyone! Hope you all enjoy your time here! :D
Hello all!:)
I'm new here and really excited of finding this forum as I'm interested in literature very much and actually I'm studying English language and literature at university.
I started learning English at the age of 12 at school but actually the education system is so disorganized in teaching language here at schools and doesn't hep at all since it's mostly focused on grammar and I believe this is almost the worst way to approach a new language.
Painting is my other passion beside literature and i'm especially interested in digital painting.I enjoy music too, almost any kind of music except heavy metal and this sort of noisy musics I say.
hmmm well I forgot to say that I'm 20 and Persian;)
Hi, I'm Kari.
I am in love with books. I get lost in the beauty of language, and I adore symbolism. I
I thought it might be fun to have a place to discuss these things, and I found you. =)
Hello, I'm Skooter, a 20-year old girl from Belgium.
I joined because, obviously, I like reading. And thinking about books. And talking about books! So I imagine I'll like it here just fine!
I like literature from several eras, from Shakespeare to Ali Smith. Currently I study English and Dutch at university.

Welcome to all you new people, it is great to have you here! See you in the forums. :)
Hey, I'm Darkflare. To keep myself enigmatic, and because I'm rather lazy, I'm not telling you anything else. I'll tantalisingly reveal however, that I play guitar and am in lower sixth form. Tell me what you think of the following story and I may reveal more about myself. Maybe.
The dusty brown path continued in a straight line towards the mountains;
which towered impressively over the surrounding countryside. A simplistic rail fence encompassed the path, and alienated it from the luscious green grassland which stretched out far towards the blue horizon, completely embracing the little village I had recently exited. A small village on the outskirts of nowhere, behind some generic mountains. The perfect place for the king of this not-so-fine country to hide his greatest treasure. The treasure which not so coincedently, happened to have found new residence within my pocket.
I strode brisquely, but not too brisquely away from the soon to be in panic village. I casually admired the blue cloudless sky and the smug sun, whilst considering how best to spend my new found spoils. I wore all black, from my fingerless gloves to my large black collar, right down to my black leather boots. My long brown scruffy hair effectively covered the top half of my face, while my black and white bandana covered the bottom half. Suspicious? Maybe. Warranting of curiousity? Not if I remained outwardly aggressive. The cowardly, backwards villagers would not approach that which may bite.
Screams and shouts erupted from the village behind me. A little sooner than I expected, but still, I was a good few hundred metres away. I casually placed my hands in my pockets and glanced behind me. Apparently I wasn't far enough. I ceased any pretence of innocence and sprinted at the kind of speed only I could run. Kicking up dust with my arms punching the air in front of me. The armoured guards I had neglected to account for rapidly became specks in the panorama behind me. I could just see their shocked faces. I smiled. They shouted. My eyes widened in surprise.
"Vampire!!!" They screamed.
Hey :]
Well, i'm Lima, and i absolutely love, love, love books. I go through stages of needing to read certain genres and completely going off other books for a long time and vice versa.
I think my favourite novels all tend to have certain things in common, most are set in America during the 40's - 60's. Of course i don't look for novels that have that in common, it just seems to be a general trait my books share. I love fantasy and sci fi novels, and novels about supernatural things - but they're a guilty pleasure of mine because some of them are so trashy (verging on goosebumps stuff)
And right now i'm reading The Sound and the Fury :]
peace.
Hey I'm laura and I live vicariously through books - yes I know it's quite pathetic but I'm ok with it.
I study English lit at College along with other subjects such as psychology, pe, english lang and art.
I live in England and I have just finished reading The Boy in Striped Pajamas (admittedly not a difficult text but a sad one none the less)
xx
Hi, my name is Martini... uhh, I'm new here... I haven't been able to write anything for almost a year. I'm hoping some of you will read my work and comment honestly. It seems its always hard to find people to read your work =(. I'm looking forward to reading some of yours too.
here's to... (thinks) whatever you want
Hi I'm Susan. I really love books and I spend a ton of time on this website so I decided to become a member. My favorite books are usually fantasies but I'm very open to suggestions. Literally. I've been rereading The Lord of the Rings for four years. I need something new.
Hello, new face saying hi. Er... what do you want to know? I have pretensions to being a writer myself (bet I'm not alone there!), love Shostakovich and my son (no, not in that order!) and I'm funny. I think.
Alright, I'll settle down. I found this place by accident when looking for somewhere to read Paradise Lost online (can't find my copy and am too skint to buy a new one at present.) It looks like a fantastic place but I haven't even begun to explore it yet, thought I'd follow the suggestion to say hello first.
The profile set up asks you for your favourite author, and all I could write was: Er...
How are you supposed to answer that? For today I think I'll go with Steinbeck because I may only have read three of his books but all three were fantastic pieces of work. But that'll change tomorrow. By the way, I'm aware my grammar is awful. I do it on purpose to present a more conversational style of writing, I feel that it allows readers to get to know me better. would be interesting to get some feedback on that as a matter of fact.
Anyway, my eyes hurt now so that's it for the moment. Nice to meet you all!
Hi
It's been interesting to lurk around these pages and see what people have been discussing so I thought I would finally say hello! I am an English teacher (in the UK) and am also head of our Media Dept. I could go on to write a series of books just about these experiences alone but will spare you in these early days :) Happy new year (or at least a peaceful new year...) to you all, Janine.
