Euthanasia should only be considered for those who have a diagnosed terminal sickness with death imminent in 6 months or less, the mental capacity, a doctor's approval, and a relative that would cooperate with the patient. Oregon is the only state that has legalized Euthanasia and I'm pretty sure that's all the prerequisites for an individual.
It'd be more inhuman to prolong something or someone's suffering when it has little to no possibility of survival.

Well, I think it has to do with ego. People want to protect their ego and do so in anyway that they can. This is how I see it when I dissect a situation that has gone awry.
