Well, I know two Thanks giving songs: Alice's Restaurant and Adam Sandlers Turkey song. There has to be more doesn't there? Maybe something like "The Pilgrim Rock" or "We three Pilgrims" or "O Cornucopia"......
A turkey for you, and a turkey for me, lets go eat turkey in a tree... DIG IT!
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant, excepting Alice.
Wasn't the Copa Cabana about Thanksgiving?
When is Thanks Giving anyway?
And what is it for? i mean, what do you celebrate that day?
i like to know about traditions :)

The Pilgrims were not in good condition. They were
living in dirt-covered shelters, there was a shortage of
food, and nearly half of them had died during the winter.
They obviously needed help and the two men were a welcome
sight. Squanto, who probably knew more English than any
other Indian in North America at that time, decided to stay
with the Pilgrims for the next few months and teach them
how to survive in this new place. He brought them deer meat
and beaver skins. He taught them how to cultivate corn and
other new vegetables and how to build Indian-style houses.
He pointed out poisonous plants and showed how other plants
could be used as medicine. He explained how to dig and cook
clams, how to get sap from the maple trees, use fish for
fertilizer, and dozens of other skills needed for their
survival.
By the time fall arrived things were going much better
for the Pilgrims, thanks to the help they had received. The
corn they planted had grown well. There was enough food to
last the winter. They were living comfortably in their
Indian-style wigwams and had also managed to build one
European-style building out of squared logs. This was their
church. They were now in better health, and they knew more
about surviving in this new land. The Pilgrims decided to
have a thanksgiving feast to celebrate their good fortune.
They had observed thanksgiving feasts in November as
religious obligations in England for many years before
coming to the New World.
Thanks for the info Papaya :)
Do you know why is it especially on the last Thursday?
Thanks :)
But, one more question, isn't there any controversy in Thanksgiving day? I have seen some ironic comments on that in some tv and radio programms, but i'm not sure. It's like the 12th of october here in spain (día de la hispanidad, hispanity day?). i dont like celebrating it because the spanish murdered a lot of native people in south america.. is there any paralelism? i mean, it's like celebrating colonialism to me.. or am i wrong?
Thanks for answering :)
By the way, do you know where does the name Lola come from? *wonders if someone would be interested in that question* .. well, anyway lol i'll tell you: it comes from Dolores (=pain, grief, sorrow), a woman's name in spanish.
Wow, I was gone for four days and you guys filled up three + pages. good work my padawans. :D
some things have lives of their own, diamterically opposed to any condescending methods of spelling. You just never know when out of the blue that stupid i before e rule will come up behind you with a chainsaw and hack off your shoulder blades... with a saw blades... then use the other blades to sharpen your nose.
Thanksgiving has become more about being thankful for the good things in your life than a celebration of the pilgrims coming here. Sometimes there is the ironic comments but not many. But I can't really speak for the native American point of view.Quote:

As according to the prophecy.
I'm flattened with flattery.
just don't be cocky
its just gratifying to find a space, ramble, and know that at least one person reads it. Because even if what you say doesn't make sense to you, or anyone... it feels good to say it.
I'm reminded of that old soldier in One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest... who used to say that butter Is America, the Acorn is the U.S. Flag, the table, the chair, those are Mexico... etc..
well yea, i do think we need to be irational sometimes..rambling on freely just for the sake of letting go what's inside your head
I was irrational only once... my whole life ;):p

why are people so cautious when it comes to caution? The caution signs clearly dictate when they have to yeild, but no... they always have to take it so literally.
so how do they suppose to take it Fool?
