Sophia Loren
I've always been fond of Claire Danes...it's the cute smile...
For one, Eliza Dushku. See the blokes thread. ;)
Ewan McGregor. Don Johnson. Neil Haskell.
Or is it Don Johnson, Ewan McGregor, Neil Haskell.
It was love on first sight with Ewan. The movie is The Serpent's Kiss. It's a literary film set in the 1700s that examines in great length the themes of man vs. nature and reason vs. insanity........ok, it's the best chick flick ever, I just don't want to people to think I'm so shallow
Don just blew me away during an interview. He was at the top of his game with Miami Vice and the interviewer asked him how it feels. He said: it's lonely at the top. In the middle. And at the bottom. *gasp*
Last but not least, Neil Haskell.....WHO??? He's a 20 yr old dancer on So You Think You Can Dance Season 3. He didn't win but who cares, he took first place in my little heart (there's a picture of it on my page)
LOL...and how cute is hell?
Exactly!
Like this:

That's Neil!
My list:
Brad Pitt (always and forever)
Tyson Beckford (wow that man is gorgeous... dumb as a doorknail but so gorgeous)
Jude Law
George Clooney
Wentworth Miller
Joseph Fiennes (I'm with you on this, Niamh!)
Bruce Willis
Cristiano Ronaldo
Denzel Washington (oh he really is an angel in The Preacher's Wife)
Tom Welling (he plays Superman on Smallville... don't watch the show, but do love him)
Robert Downey Jr.
ok there are so many... but I will stop for now
but here are the females I love as well, and you could sort of say I have a crush on:
Sophia Loren
Monica Bellucci
Angelina Jolie
Alicia Keys
Nicole Kidman
Shakira
Beyonce
Hi Janine. We really do have the same tastes in men. Apart from our adoration of Ken, I love most of those others you've mentioned. Haunted you need to join the Ken group :).
Rufus is wonderful in Middlemarch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvTCO8-pWLI
but so is Douglas Hodge
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFS6I...eature=related
a long clip, but just to show those who don't know this actor. What a shame, the poor character starts with such good intentions and ambitions, but.......
If you've seen Rufus in TTOTS Janine, have you seen Damian Lewis in Much Ado About Nothing, part of the same series? It's wonderful, and he is so brilliant in it, funny, and very sexy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yd3h...eature=related
Alan Rickman is a favourite of mine too, particularly in Truly, Madly Deeply, but get the hankies out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj1Bl...eature=related
And finally, someone else who loves Steven Mackintosh. He's just stunning in Our Mutual Friend, so touching and vulnerable. Catch that if you haven't already seen it, he's wonderful, but so are the rest of the cast. David Morrissey is in it too, so you can't go wrong. He's just brilliant, intense and compelling.

I love Ciaran Hinds too, TMOC is so sad, and he was just the best ever Wentworth in Persuasion and was great as Rochester. (but my favourite ever Rochester is Toby Stephens). He seems to excel in these period roles doesn't he? Julius Caesar was brilliant too.

I don't think Caesar actually looked like this though....:D!
And here's Toby

I was going to go out to the shops, but I don't want to now. I need to go and watch all of these films again, after I've had a lie-down in a darkened room to compose myself......
Edited to say I didn't mean to post the quote twice, but I had problems logging in, and then it did it twice.
Wessexgirl, I watched a lot of clips from Janine and I'm afraid I don't quite belong in the Ken group...he's much too classy for me. I'm more for the rough around the edges type — that is, without getting their hair messed up. Don Johnson fits the bill. Model gorgeous smart ***. And Ewan McGregor, a sweetheart who's not afraid to get dirty. Those are more like my guys :)
wessexgirl, I looked at all of you clips (thanks so much!) and now I am going to hunt for some of the films on Amazon. I want to see the miniseries with Steven Machintosh - he's a honey and adorable, isn't he? If you did not see "Land Girls" see it; he is endearing in that film; funny as well. It will make you laugh and cry. I will have to find some clips on Youtube. I also loved him as Diggory Den (the Reddleman),"Return of the Native"; I just re-watched that the other night, just to see cute Steven; Clive Owen is not so bad to look at either. Love his voice. At first, I was not crazy over the guy who played Clym, but then he grew on me with time. I will hunt for a trailer or excerpts. I loved the Alan Rickman film and will look that one up, as well. I would like to buy it. His acting was wonderful and so nuanced. I loved that scene you sent to me with the poetry. Now I am curious.
Going now to check the Ken social club to see if anyone posted. We might need to start a 'British Actors' club as well, so we can drool over these cute guys, too.
Edit: YIKES! just looked up the Richman film - pricy! I don't think I can afford that one for a long while. Guess I will have to view it on Youtube. I am contemplating buying the Dicken's set that includes the one film with Steven cutie-pie; but then again, I may just spring for the one single film and get others I want instead.
I'm still in love with Omar Sharif and Richard Chamberlain despite the fact that they are in their 70s now. I'll take 'em! :D
Hugh Grant, oh yeah! Rufus Sewell, even more, oh, yeah!
Ken, YES!!! Any day!
Timothy Dalton, of course!
My husband doesn't care about my fantasies! LOL He says he feels secure. I don't know if he feels secure because he thinks he's so hot or because he thinks I'm not!
Yeah! In total agreement. These film stars never grow old; that is the magic of film and fantasy worlds. I love all these guys, too. I am doting presently on Rufus for some reason. I need to get some more of his films.
 Men all think they are hot! :lol:Quote:

Hi Janine. I think I may have seen some of Land Girls, but I don't remember seeing it all. I couldn't remember SM being in it, but if it's the one I'm thinking of, Anna Friel was in it too, who stars with him in Our Mutual Friend. They obviously work well together, as you'll see when you watch OMF, it's absolutely stunning, but then all the cast were excellent. The clip with the lovely David Morrissey in the graveyard cuts off too soon, he goes completely barmy, he's so intense. I've never seen him give a bad performance, he's wonderful.
You may have trouble finding a copy of Truly, Madly, Deeply. I have mine on VHS, and thought I might need to get a dvd, but it doesn't look as if it's easily available. I haven't watched it in years, but I always cry when I see it. I don't know if you know the synopsis, but I won't spoil it for you. AR is excellent as usual, but so are the other 2 main characters, Juliet Stevenson and Michael Maloney, who you already know from his films with Ken. He's another favourite of mine, so to have a film with both him and AR in is just perfect.
I felt the same about Ray Stevenson in The Return of the Native, but then I saw him in Rome and he was brilliant, here's a clip where he's a lover rather than a fighter. Wouldn't you just want him on your side in a battle? :D

I love that series too, and it needs a re-watching, like all the many dvds I've promised myself to watch over the holidays, but haven't :(. I don't know what to watch first, and then I waste time deciding and the moments gone. I've been watching an old version of Persuasion from the 70's or 80's but it's not up to much after you've seen the Ciaran Hinds/Amanda Root version. The leads don't appear to have any chemistry or history between them at all. So much was conveyed unspoken in the later version showing what excellent actors they are. I may have to abandon it and give my precious time to another of the brilliant adaptations I've got.
Ooh, how could I have forgotten? James Purefoy in Rome too as Mark Anthony........I really need to watch this series again, :thumbs_up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awT2G...eature=related
he's so good, a goodie, a baddie, funny, brave, cool, complex etc. etc.
wessexgirl, you're absolutely right; I didn't realise. She does play in "The Land Girls" as well; but the three woman revolve around Steven Machintosh, who plays Joe. I just love that film. I only *sign* have it on VHS tape, as you have another here mentioned. I do now see LG's advertised on DVD on Amazon, but currently not available; so there is hope.:thumbs_up It's a good film and Steven is oh so appealing.
Yes, that intense performance was really something. I don't know that actor at all but will have to keep an eye on him. Can't wait to buy that DVD and watch it. To buy just that one is $10.50 (think). It's in my cart now.
Indeed, that does not look too hopeful. I love Juliet Stevenson; I just bought a series of Ibsen plays and she is featured in "A Doll's House". She is the best Nora I have ever seen, not that I have seen many productions. She was so totally convincing I was mesmerized with her performance - really fine and wonderful. If you have not seen it try to. The whole Ibsen set is incredible and offers so much. The BBC does it again! Yes, know Michael Maloney well by now; he's in so many of Ken's films.:D He is top-notch. I loved him as Laertes and also as The Dauphane in "Henry V".Quote:

I actually saw him in a Ken film "Theory of Flight" and he plays a giggilo. He shows a bit more than we would want to see in the film, but actually the scene is quite well done (sort of funny, too); he goes fleeing out of the room carrying his clothes. Ever see it? I didn't even recognise him first time around and then it dawned on me where I had seen him before. I think he would make a good James Bond. He is sort of unapproachable and yet smooth/sexy in TOF.Quote:

I can't wait to watch the clip you provided.

The part I bolded up is exactly me lately...totally indecisive and wasting time. I got this small portable 8" Sony player for on my bed (closeup) or at the park; it's so cool, but now I find I want to rewatch all the films on it, which I already saw, but that are my favorites or fit my mood that particular night.Quote:

No, that older version doesn't sound that good; I would abandon it. How can you beat the other BBC version; it's excellent! You just reminded me that I bought an older film adaptation of "Dorian Gray"; however, I did see this particular movie on TV once and loved it. I think it's still sealed and another DVD I need to break out and watch. Will I ever catch up? I can see what I am going to be doing at the park this summer; watching the portable player and movies movies movies! I won't be a couch potato but a lounge chair potato.:D
I can't believe it. I was going to mention him tonight. I loved him in "The Mayor of Casterbridge"....ou la la....Quote:

he's so good, a goodie, a baddie, funny, brave, cool, complex etc. etc.
...and yes, MissS, it's the same miniseries I recommended to you with Ciaran Hinds playing the mayor. You will love that film!
James Purefoy is to die for. I love those Scottish accents. I will check him out in the link you provided to the video. Wow, can't imagine him as Mark Anthony. That should be interesting.
He's not Scottish Janine, (I don't think so anyway), but I know he was as the character in TMOC, but he's absolutely superb as Anthony. If you haven't seen Rome, I urge you to watch it. It's very violent and sexually explicit, but it's wonderful. The acting is excellent, and there is a rich vein of dark humour throughout, a lot of it from Anthony. JP's performance is exquisite. The character is brutal, dissolute, hedonistic, selfish, etc. but he's also loyal to Caesar, (Ciaran Hinds), loved by his men, inspiring loyalty from Pullo, (Ray Stevenson) and funny, making him one of the favourite characters, for me anyway. I suppose it's a gift of a part for any actor, but JP does it brilliantly. Here he is as Beau Brummell, and I just read on Wiki (so it's probably not true!) that he may be making an adaptation of the Flashman novels woohhoooo!!!

Okay, so I go for 'em when they're kinda dead.
Robert Frost:

http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...frostyoung.jpg
Lewis Powell: (kind of a butthead, but a hot one nevertheless)
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...nc/paine11.jpg
Lily you never fail to make me laugh...so I go for 'em when they're kinda dead?:lol::lol:....I think Frost is very dead by now; 6 foot under and probably a bit chilly, frosty to the touch. He did have very nice eyes - pretty eyes. I like his poetry, too.
Hi wessexgirl, sorry it took so long to answer this post of yours. You are right and I stand corrected about James Purfoy. I just assumed he was Scottish, since he played a Scotsman in TMOC; now I am even more impressed, since his accent seemed so authentic and totally convincing.
I am not big into the genre of Ancient Rome movies or books, but I will have to check out that movie, if you say he is great in it. I do indeed appreciate his talent. I do watch violence sometimes, not to say I like it very much, but anyway it can hardly be avoided in some very fine films of today, can it? It does seem that as soon as someone mentions to me a Roman type film, I automatically think 'violence' because usually that is the case. But to see this film, with all three greats, would be amazing. I watched some clips on youtube and it looks terrific. Thanks for the Youtube link you provided.
Guess what, I am watching the movie now; well later tonight I will start on part 2 of side one. I just bought it from Amazon and received it a few days ago. So far so good. Steven is so cute looking and all you said he would be - touching and vulnerable. He is sensitive and delicate. I really love his voice, too. I may have a few questions about the story. I am not familar with this particular Dicken's novel and find a few things a bit confusing; maybe a second viewing will be necessary. I like all the characters so far. It's really dark at times, isn't it?Quote:

So...I gotta new one:
http://www.fancast.com/blogs/files/2...ion-castle.jpg
James Dean, (young) Elvis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Ewen McGregor
I know there are more. Those are just the ones that immediately come to mind
At the moment Edward Norton. Don't ask me why, it just is
Oh yeah..and (young) David Gilmour and Johnny Depp (obviously)
It's always been Juliette Binoche for me...one is enough. ;)
http://www.irandokht.com/images/juliette-binoche.jpg
French, down-to-earth, intelligent...sigh! :)
Richard Chamberlain was sooooo beautiful! (I have to say that ever since The Thornbirds, I have had a thing for priests... hot priests that is)
I also loved Paul Newman back in the day, and *sigh* Robert Redford...
oh and I am adding Gael Garcia Bernal to my list :)
Yeah, well, did you not see my list of men from pages back? The list was entirely of dead guys! :p BUT.......
NO! NO! NO! I swear that when I saw this just now I said out loud to the computer, "Oh my God! No!". And then I laughed. This guy freaks my brother out (long story). I honestly can't wait to tell him about this! :pQuote:
Lewis Powell: (kind of a butthead, but a hot one nevertheless)
http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/a...nc/paine11.jpg
But if Lily Adams can say that Lewis Powell wasn't too bad to look at, then I can say that neither was John Wilkes Booth! I know he was nuts, but he wasn't a bad-looking guy. It is such a shame to waste himself like that. But crazy is crazy! Anyway, speaking of crazy, if I am crazy for this opinion, then she is, too! :p
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...78/jwbooth.jpg
And as long as we are talking about dead Civil War guys (as my brother calls them when he refers to my finding any of them attractive), I am going to say it - Robert E. Lee. Doesn't matter what age he is either. I like the look of him. :D
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd52/110678/lee.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd52/110678/lee2.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd52/110678/lee3.jpg
And, most of all, actually -
Robert Todd Lincoln (I think Abraham Lincoln's son was very appealing)
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...rtlincoln2.jpg
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/d...rtlincoln3.jpg
And you know what? I don't see what is so crazy about finding a man from that far in the past attractive. After all, like I have said to my brother many times, "Why is it crazy if I say Robert E. Lee is attractive but it isn't if I say Gary Cooper is? They are both dead just the same!". :D
Oh ehm geezy! Firefly! *high five* He is pretty cute.
:D Well...he was! Look at the hot dead man!
That's Robert E. Lee!? The one in the 1812 lookin kinda get up and the brown hair!? No! Wow...he was purty good lookin'. I dig those sideburns.
Good last point. :p
 I will have rethink this thread now completely. I must go in search of 'dead man' celebrities and post my favorites, too.
Lily glad you like my pun.
LadyWentworth, I think Lincoln's son's last photo looks a little like Tom Hanks, as he looks today; that is if he was wearing the same style hair and mustashe.
Stargazer, I have always had a thing for David Gilmour, too.
Michael T,I have loved Juliette Binoche for sometime and I am a woman; if I was man, I would simply adore her. She is so incredible looking and is a great actress, one I highly admire.
andave, Nathan has gorgeous dark blue eyes; I love the name Nathan, too.
This was an interesting page!
 :thumbs_up
 Yes, indeedy! That is definitely Bobby Lee! :D He was purty good lookin', wasn't he? :D I always say that if he looked like that in a painting, just imagine what he looked like in real life! :D And yes, I LOVE the sideburns! :DQuote:

Thank you! I am glad someone agrees! :pQuote:
Good last point. :p
 Nothing against Tom Hanks, but that was such an insult to Robert Lincoln! I love RTL! Oh, yes, I do, and I will not have him compared to the looks of Tom Hanks! :p
You have to love him, he was great in Fight Club

Edward Furlong - The bad boy in the list :)

I could go like this forever
I won't even go to the older ones :S
