hello guys I am in!what do u think?Am I crazy?or feeling foolish!
hey: can anybody here teach me how can I post a subject to talk about here!plz help
I just need a fresh start. Thats to say, iam on my knees imploring to any to teach me how to be a great poet both, articulatory and written.
Hi coffeeaddict, Welcome to the forum! I have read Pride and Prejudice and I loved it. I also love to watch Golmore Girls but sadly, I am only able to find the first whole season and some episodes of second and third seasons.
Hello Pan-is-dead, I hope you will have a nice time here. I will look forward to read your writing.
Sally rose, You too, Keep on posting.
Rks poet, I don't know very well, how to be a great poet. I think that it needs you to have a large vocabulary, sense and sentence formation and many more things. You can check Poetry Posts. You will find them interesting and they might help you in achieving your goal.
The lord, Welcome but I have not understood that what do you mean by teaching how to post a subject to talk about???
Belle--Ineptum? Bah! I'm sure your Latin is quite good. Mine is so so. At any rate, I don't imagine I'd get very far trying to discourse in Latin alone. So I won't embarrass myself by trying to compose a witty reply in Caesar's tongue. ;)Quote:
Nullo modo! Vah! Denuone Latine loquebar? Me ineptum. Interdum modo elabitur. :D
E consci Petrarca! Italiano capisco meglio. Ah amore! Hai trovato pietà nel mio cuore se tu piangi et ragioni fra le vane speranze e 'l van dolore. ;) :nod:Quote:
Yeah, I guess you could say that. :brow
Then again, maybe it is just that del vario stile in ch'io piango et ragiono fra le vane speranze e 'l van dolore, ove sia chi per prova intenda amore, spero trovar pietà, nonché perdono.
Any other languages we should be watching out for from you? :D
Virgil—Belle’s quote under the name is the start of one often circulated among Latin students: quiquid latine dictum sit altum videtur “what is said (written) in Latin, seems high (noble)” (By the way, I like your Latin catch phrase too.)
I’ll let her translate the rest of what she said (or he? sorry if I’m wrong Belle), except for the last bit from Petrarch which is from the first poem in the Canzoniere (the same poem where my signature is from). I thought I’d post it here so everyone knows what both of us are referring to:
Voi ch’ascoltate in rime sparse il suono
di quei sospiri ond’ io nudriva ‘l core
in sul mio primo giovenile errore,
quand’ era in parte altr’ uom da quell ch’I’sono:
del vario stile in ch’io piango et ragiono
fra le vane speranze e ‘l van dolore,
ove sia chi per prova intenda amore
spero trovar pietà, non che perdono.
Ma ben veggio or sì come al popol tutto
favola fui gran tempo, onde sovente
di me medesmo meco mi vergogno
et del mio vaneggiar vergogna è ‘l frutto,
e’l pentersi, e ‘l conoscer chiaramente
che quanto piace al mondo è breve sogno.
You who hear in scattered rhymes the sound of those sighs with
which I nourishdd my heart during my first youthful error, when
I was in part another man from what I am now:
For the varied style in which I weep and speak between vain
hopes and vain sorrow, where there is anyone who understands
love through experience, I hope to find pity, not only pardon.
But now I see well how for a long time I was the talk of the crowd,
for which often I am ashamed of myself within;
and of my raving, shame is the fruit, and repentance, and the
clear knowledge that whatever pleases in the world is a brief
dream.
(This is the Durling English translation)
Welcome O dark lord. Do you mean you want to know how to start a new thread to introduce a new discussion topic? You need to go to the part of the forums where you want to post (General Literature, Personal Poetry, wherever it is), and click on the button near the bottom where it says "new thread." Then a box will open where you can compose the title and content of the first post for that thread, just like any other post. Hope this helps.Quote:

Belle, could you possibly translate that and the motto under your name?
"Nullo modo! Vah! Denuone Latine loquebar? Me ineptum. Interdum modo elabitur."
No way! Oh! Was I speaking Latin again? Silly me. Sometimes it just sort of slips out.
:D
And if you roll your eyes and say, "Quisque comoedus est.", I'd probably laugh my head off and give you a thumbs up, Virgil. :D
Yo no sé mucho, realmente. Il a juste l'air de je sais que je dis. Eu não fico a maioria do uso de gramática. Basta gusto ko lang ilagay kahit mali-mali, para kunwari malalim ang sinasabi ko. :brow:Quote:

Well, I only followed you as far as the Portuguese. :nod:Quote:

I just want to put it there even if it's all wrong, so I'd sound profound. :D

Uff, I used to be the language-show off. Or I tried to :(
