What is the last movie you saw? and rate it.

saw atonement last night with a friend of mine...not quite as good as the book, then again, movies generally can't compare with books...;)

but it was BY FAR one of the best adaptations i've seen...i give it a 10 out of 10!

but i agree with the part about the critics...movies they hate, i seem to love and vice versa

Jumper -eh...6/10. Too short.


Thankfully I'm going to see Vantage Point this weekend, and that should restore my faith in the movie industry; I heard it was a great one!

I like Benigni as an actor in Jim Jarmusch films but he tends to get out of hand when he's directing himself.

Raging Bull is good but Taxi Driver is Scorsese's masterpiece.

Both. I think his strongest is Casualties of War, but even that has faults.

I have to go with the Bull, but Taxi Driver is still one of the best movies. I love Marty during his Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and the King of Comedy period.

I haven't seen enough of his work to judge, really. Only "Scarface" and "The Untouchables" ;). I liked scarface very much, the untouchables so - so ;)

As for Scorsese i too prefer the Taxi driver ;)

Last night i watched "Pan's Labyrinth" (or to be more correct "Fauns' Labyrinth" ;) ). I was pleasantly sourprised 9/10. What i liked most was the historical context of the movie and not the fantasy elements.

10/10.
Although I still prefer Ciaran Hints as Mr.Rochester, William Hurt was a pleasant surprise.

I love that version of Jane Eyre!

Pan was great, have you seen The Devil's Backbone, also by Del Toro? It's not quite as good but it's the first part of the trilogy and deals with the same themes. Cronos, his first film also mixes fantasy and childhood in much the same way. A film that probably influenced him a lot is Spirit of the Beehive which is a masterpiece by Victor Erice, it may not be easy to find, I got lucky as there was a rerun in a small theater in Paris. Check it out, it's great.

Oceans Thirteen - ust the movie I was looking for a non-thinking purely entertaining movie.

My Bestfriend's Girlfriend - (a local movie)

On a normal movie-watching day, I would not dare go into the theatre and watch a soppy local love story because...it's just that...soppy. But this was exempted because I watched it with my bestfriend! (That's saying something because I haven't had a bestie for many years.) We watched it and enjoyed...critiquing it! Hahaha! Some lines jump and they would not make sense anymore. But the lead actor was handsome...and we swooned..very unlikely! :sick:
