Now thats just too nasty men are good for some things....;like heavy lifting opening jars and reaching the top shelf. And choclate.... most boys I know seem to always be giving me biscuits or choclate :D:D

Lol, I know you probably meant your post to be facetious, Kilted, but I am going to ramble on about it anyway. Ms Solanos was apparently not one to let simple biological facts stand in the way of a "good" slogan...(I think she has passed away also)
Once in a while I don't like men either (I have anger issues) but that statement is just nonsensical. There is nothing in biology that states that the Y chromosome is "incomplete".
Quote:
The sex is determined by the chromosomes of the male sperm cell,
at the time of conception. However, development of a
fertilized egg is the same for male and female, until
at a certain stage, due to the genes on the
Y-chromosome, male fetuses start to produce substances
that change the development to follow the 'male'
course.
In fact, you are hitting a difference in 'genotype'
versus 'phenotype' here. The fertilized egg has the
genotype of male or female, but the phenotype (the
'form' you see) is not yet apparent. The difference
between genotype and phenotype is crucial in biology
but it is often ignored. You have just identified a
beautiful example.
-------------
sex is determined genetically at conception
by the inheritance of either two X chromosomes (female) or an X and a Y
(male). The expression of the sex characteristics doesn't begin until about
6 weeks gestation. Before that time the fetus is not really male or female,
but non-specific. The fetus has two non-specific gonads and two sets of
tubes. If the fetus has a Y chromosome, at 6 weeks a gene called the SRY
(sex determining region of the Y) turns on. This gene causes the
degeneration of the female characters and causes the male characters to
develop. It causes the non-specific gonads to become testes and the tubes to
become the vas deferens. Once the testes are mature enough another gene
turns on to start producing testosterone. This causes the internal sex
organs to develop. Part of the testosterone turns into another hormone which
then causes the external sex organs to develop. If the Y chromosome isn't
present the female pattern of development occurs; the female pattern is the
default pattern so-to-speak. The gonads become ovaries and the tubes become
fallopian tubes. So even though the gene for maleness is inherited at
conception, the expression of the trait doesn't begin until about 6 weeks after conception
Actually I believe that the "feminisation of testes" is a phenomenon found in many amphibians at the moment. Also saw a show on the alligators of the everglades where something similar is occuring. This is believed to be the result of pollution of certain toxic chemicals (usually having a long half life). Animals that are higher up the food chain tend to accumulate these chemicals storing them in their fat cells. The chemicals are very similar in chemical make up to testosterone, and then occupy the testosterone receptors. A similar situation arises in mammals that eat soy. A sheep herder noticed that the flocks that grazed on soy produced less offspring, the females were more prevalent, and all of the offspring were less productive when mating. This is a theory, and while some scientists disagree it does have some merit.
Actually I think it's quite prevelant amongst many "contemporary" men. I see it all over the place.
Oh that is such a great phrase, "the feminisation of the testes!!" Who came up with it? I'll have to go back and check. Whoever came up with it should copywrite.
edit: Oh it was Stan that came up with it. :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up four thumbs up on that. Great term. :)
heh...and maybe somethings else...:D ahh, heh. bad.:D
indeed...we also drive cars, and get money!
"contemporary" men...or contemporary "men"...:D
I would like to accept credit but...actually it originated within the article of a scientific journal on the effects of human pollution of the st. laurence river...
wouldn't there still be men then as 'they ' would have the reproductive organs of both sexes
harsh.......
asexual reproduction....unlikely as it is a genetic trait of less developed species...as we are more developed as a species our potential for adaptation is much higher and our ability to reproduce through asexual reproduction deminishes
wouldn't that defeat the purpose of jetting us off onto another planet...
about the signs at the end....I dont know...i could ask my sister she's more of a bible thumper....but I wouldn't worry about it as the bible also says no one will know when the end is coming.....so signs or not no one will be waiting for it and have it marked on a calender...
numbers please........ :P
heres a thought....as women theologically speaking were created out of man......god took a rib from Adam .....hence he is incomplete....huh huh...come on.......I thought of that just now.........but if you prefer...you can go with the whole hopeless romantic thing (I've kinda thought of it this way for a long time)........that man is incomplete without a woman....incomplete in every way.......
*I'm gonna get in trouble*
Yes, that's right. :D
Yeah, but the way you used is more original. ;)Quote:

 No I don't look at men's testes. You know what I meant. :p
Hmm... Which part of your 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' is so frail and sensitive that it would come under attack with 'one hint of feminisation' and feel threatened?
The league?
The extraordinariness?
The gentlemenliness?
*has an idea but keeps it to herself for the time being*
:p
How does this abomination think he came to exist, I wonder? Want to take a poll on it? we could say:Quote:
The male is a biological accident: the Y (male) gene is an incomplete X (female) gene, that is, it has an incomplete set of chromosomes. In other words, the male is an incomplete female, a walking abortion, aborted at the gene stage. To be male is to be deficient, emotionally limited; maleness is a deficiency disease and males are emotional cripples.
1.) Stork
2.) Cabbage Leaf
3.) Asexual Reproduction
4.) Fairy's brought him
5.) Popped into existance from another dimention
:p
I'm in favour of number 4. The fairy sounds nice, gives me a chance to do my make up. :p
Night, dear friend, your own logic is shaky. A part can be a complete part, yes, but it is still a part, it isn't whole. This computer I'm typing this on really needs a new graphics card. The computer works fine. The part would make it work better. The part exists on it's own, but it won't produce a thing until it becomes part of this machine. Then it will produce some great images! :) But the part is at the compter store until I get the money to go buy it.
Who here gets an urge to scream after viewing this picture?
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h5...lassicmime.jpg
I know, this is off-topic, but...the mime is a guy so it is loosely related. :D
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhh I hate mimes! delete that pic pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeassssssssssse.
what i hate most is when they wear black tights and do that trick where they pretend to climb up a rope but there is no rope... or when they feel an imaginary object to show what it is.... grrrrrrrrrr
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh it makes my flesh crawl
no it wasnt well said which was what was wrong withit. Say You have a box of balls. The box of balls isnt complete without all the balls . but a single ball from the box is complete of itself. ( right before I do this no offense meant!)
But if eve was made from a rib then a complete thing was made from somthing that while complete in its self( not half a rib, or any other part of the rib But THE rib) was part of somthing else. But poor old adam lost rib in the process so he is missing somthing, that eve isnt because she didnt actually lose anything.
:D :p
Gah, are we still on with that other topic? Parts and ribs and that other "stuff"? I can go on about it myself but....http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h5...mileys/bah.gif
(sorry)
That's what happens when women butt in!

*edit* is that a...a woman in the middle there?
Classic!
I'd like one of these, as well:

EDIT: I was responding to kilted exile's post (some woman got in the way :) )
Need to keep that pic for jays birthday!! and you what I want? TOP GEAR!!
I think its starting agin next week:D

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! and hurrah for the hamster!
Although I still hold that they only reason they never show or tell who The Stig is is because The stig is a She!
Indeed I do. Of course if we ask her, I am sure she will deny it...:p
Well, we know this much about the lady? in the middle-- she-is-not-to-be-named. Why does that sound familiar? ;)
That she is inscrutably lovely?
That lady in the middle certainly isn't who you think she is :p
Is that a definate denial? It is almost a little ambiguous...:p
A definite denial, yes, I have never seen the lady nor her two partners-in-crime in my life :D... though I do like blue, just not that much :p
Ok, I believe you. I don't think it is possible that anybody likes blue as much as those three anyway.
been busy the past few days......it looks as though I havn't missed much.... who is still in on the cold shower challenge (quick sum up).....I've had 4 so far (12,13,16,18) ....so the conversation went from...the possibility of the loss/removal of males from the planet.....breifly touched on mimes and cars...and has now ventured onto the popularity of the color blue.....??????????????????
what should I think?????
