Eccles, welcome to the forum.
Hey everyone nice to meet you all. Rock On Poets!!
Hi british_pee, welcome to the forum.
Hello. I came across this site looking for poetry ideas for my 8 year old daughter. I am an avid reader of all sorts and want to pass this enthusiasm on to her. Ability to read is not an issue, she could read before kindergarten, just motivation. Cheers.
Welcome Lizsmom. I hope you decide to stay with us. Lit net might a fun place for an avid reader.
I came across this site after recieving a letter from the International Library of Poetry aka poetry.com...a scam of course. Researching a bit I came across this site and like what I see. I'm looking for magazines, etc that will take poetry submissions...I want to be part of a poetry/writers forum and post some of my work here. Oh, I know, I'll post the poem that I got the letter from poetry.com about! Thanks! Chris
Greetings!
I just happened upon this site looking up JM Barrie...
What an interesting site it appears to be.
I am very much into reading anything by CS Lewis, he is among one of my all time favourites. Right now I am reading Letters of CS Lewis, Peter & Wendy and The Order of the Phoenix (my kids like me to read Harry Potter to them). I like mystery's, fantasy and some sci-fi.
I also like to write, have been doing that since I was kid. I usually write on the fantasy side of things.
I look forward to posting more on here:)

Welcome Chris and Pippin. I think you will both like lit net.
ChrisGay and Pippin72, welcome to the forum! Keep on posting!
Hello!! I am new! Here I've found things I thought I never would! It's a great stuff, really great!! I am 20, a student, I like to read, especially Russians(DOSTOEVSKY IS A GOD), but I don't write, it disturbs my minds and it's sometimes hard to express your idea on the paper...Idea is in the head.
I love realisam and romantisam, and I contemn best-sellers!!
I hope I will enjoy in sharing my ideas with all!!
Hi bazarov, I have not tried Dostoevdky yet but we are going to read any novel by him in Book Club soon. I hope that you will enjoy yourself here.
Thanks for the warm welcome folks. Glad to be part of Literature Net! ;)
WELCOME EVERYONE! (in caps it counts for three hellos! : )
Welcome everyone new! Bazarov! ChrisGay! Pippin!
Thanks everyone!!! I'm enjoying already
He everyone. I'm not actually new but would like to say HI to all!!!
Hi thingamajig!
I've only just contemplated the effect of my movie-centric avatar and signature on a forum focused on literature. Of course, contemplation is not obliged to lead to anything... so movie-centric they will stay.
Hello, I would like to be called Cruci, and this is my very first post. (:
Hello to all the newbies :) and Cruci, don't worry about it, there are actually a bunch of people here who don't have enough time to read  and there are lots of books-adapted-to-movies topics too.
Oh, it's not that I don't read - far from it! - I just like commenting on little coincidences and ironies. (: But thank you for the welcome and the funny green laughing thing. 8D
Hi Cruci! Welcome to the forum and I hope that you will enjoy your stay here. :D
Greetings :D
Interesting site... albeit a bit confusing. I'm sure I shall get the hang of it before to long.
Welcome Cruci and kashka. It's not so confusing once you get the hang of it. I hope you'll like lit net.
I think it is the sheer number of forums which is creating the confusing. Good to find somewhere dedicated to books though!Quote:

Howdy all!
This looks like a great forum.
I mainly read the "classics", but am looking for introductions to more modern fiction, so don't be shy.
Lots of good threads for me to get caught up on, so i'll talk to you soon.
Welcome to the forum, whiskey and ac40! Have fun!
whiskey, you will find some good suggestions here for Modern Fiction in General Literature.
Greetings everyone,
I have been watching the conversations, and noted how so many users have great relationships with the others and I was getting a little wistful until I saw this thread, so I will try to introduce myself and make some new friends.
My user name, as you may have guessed, is from T.S. Eliot's "The Wasteland" and my motto, "Noli me tangere" from Wyatt's "Whoso list to hunt" - I believe these bookend me nicely. I have an MA in English literature, with an emphasis in comparative lit. . .my favorite areas are Renaissance lit and Modernist poetry, although I rarely meet a piece of poetry or prose I don't like (Ulysses being the major exception!) :brow:
I have many interests and hobbies. In addition to working as a labor consultant, I teach ballroom dancing, specializing in International Latin style. I also ride horses competitively in dressage events. I have a 17 year old Thoroughbred named Alexander the Great and a 2 year old Rhinelander named Eurythmic that is waiting to take over Alex's job when he retires. I also have a 22 year old Thoroughbred that I retired from jumping competitions. I also participate in local theatre/opera, play a smashing game of tennis, downhill ski, and spend any leisure time (ha ha) fly fishing for trout.
I love the forum, as I have not had an outlet to discuss what I read for a long time. My significant other is starting to hide under the bed at the mere mention of "deconstruction," and heaven forbid I mention the name Umberto Eco! Poor little chemist/physicist!!
I look forward to chatting with you all soon-
Hi All!
Hi Hyacinth! I hope I will be seeing you around. You sound like a very interesting person. Friendships are built over time, but if you are interesting, nice, and take part in discussions and games, you will soon find yourself cyber friends. :D
Thought I'd introduce myself as this looks like a great forum!
I'm Sarah. Some of my hobbies are horseback riding, painting, and (obviously)reading. I'm a huge activist for environmental issues and I'm also vegetarian. I hope I'll get the chance to discuss stuff with all of you!
Hi Sarah- Welcome to the forum!
Stumbled into this web today. Looks great. So here I am. Looking forward to read your thoughts and share mine here.
Hyacinth Girl and vrianto3! Welcome to the forum! Have fun here!
Hi Wallflower! Welcome! Hi Vrianto!
Hi all!
I'm new to this site, and I guess not too late to be a part of. My interests include music and literature.
Would like to share your views and mine...
Looking forward to a great togetherness...
Hi wallflower and musical9! Welcome to the forum!
musical, you can always be a part of this forum so why need to say that you are too late? Enjoy yourself here!
Welcome to all the newbies
Hyacinth Girl, I wanted to tell you I love the Vermeer avatar. Good to welcome someone who also has an interest in Renaissance lit. I'm a Grad student specializing in the English Renaissance, with the occasional jaunt into continental lit (esp. Italy and France). What languages did you do your comparative work in? By the way, if you're interested, the poem of the week this week in the "poems, poets and poetry" sectioin of the forums is Milton's "When I consider how my light is spent," so given your interest in Renaissance verse you might to stop by and throw in your two cents. We always like to welcome newbies into the discussion. :)
Thanks PL- I love Vermeer. I did my major work in English and Spanish texts, with some Italian thrown in, although that was a struggle. I saw in the counting that you were working on a Shakespeare paper - what's the topic? I will definitely stop by the poetry
Hi guys,
I just joined the forum this past weekend and am just now getting around to posting. I really LOVE this site. There are a few books here that I've never had a chance to read, NOW I CAN! YAY!!
I hope that I'll be able to join in on quite a few of the conversations. There are some that I'm really interested in discussing (I too was disappointed that Laurie ended up with Amy, instead of Jo). Be seeing you guys around the forum. ;)
