Absent-minded,I must confess,should be removed from humanity,for being absent-minded will bring trails and tribulations sometimes.
One solution is not to have consternation and be beleaguered,a calm mind is vital no matter what.If absent-mindedness is a whirlwind and an unforeseen one,you must overcome it no matter what.The Lord will trail you,ensuring no absent-mindedness is present.
I have told this story before in the dark recesses of the forum, but enough of you folk are new(new counts as anything short of a year) so might not have seen it.
When I was 6 or 7 I took swimming lessons at the high school nearby, was the only pool nearby (a certain MT had got rid of funding so most school pools got done away with) it had big glass windows where folk could look in. In my excitement to get started my lesson (ah the impetuousness of youth) I kinda forgot to put on my swimming trunks before leaving the change room. Didnt realise until the laughing & pointing started, then turned tail and ran back into the room. Never returned & still cant do what most would consider swimming.......
I'm not sure if this is absentminded or just self centered. Either way we have to hop in the way-back machine to around the time that Metal church was one of my favorite bands ~1989.
Metal Church was touring with Anthrax, small concert halls. My friends and I bought our tickets and were all excited to see Metal Church, at the time Anthrax was just ok. We thought we had plenty of time to catch the show and we were in no hurry to see Anthrax who of course was the opening act. We got to the show just in time to see Metal Church say "Thank You and Goodnight" Unfortunately the billboard charts and my personal taste were not on the same page and Anthrax was way more popular then Metal Church and was indeed the headliners for that particular show.
Some times when i close a door i forget to remove my fingers :(
It has happened a few times and right now i have a really black thumb..and it hurts :( :lol:
I always lose various items especially my sunglasses..one time i was hopeless and decided that i lost them for good and then opening the fridge to fetch some cold water i found them right there :lol:
That reminds me.... A friend of mine did a similar thing when we were learning to swim, but this story has a different twist: He was in a hurry too, but he did not forget his swimming trunks. He left his buoyancy aid in the changing room and jumped straight into the large pool and proceeded to swim its entire length before he realised his mistake. At the same time he realised that he actually knew how to swim... fortunately.Quote:

It was simple: I was invoking the intermediate value theorem, and forgot to establish continuity. Oh, silly me.

Ever put the butter into the dishwasher? i have. do it all the time. The milk sometimes almost ends up in the crockery press.
I am glad I am not alone. I have found cleaning products in the fridge and all sorts of things everywhere else. I am really absentminded most of the time. Sometimes I find myself walking into a room and I have no idea what I am doing there:lol:
Went to pick my two kids from school, left one in his class and did not realize that I had only one in the car till long after reaching home!!! (how the school administrator was laughing when I went back to get him out of the school office where he was kept as classrooms were closed and teachers had gone! She is my next door neighbour now and we still laugh talking about that day!)
Once found myself going 'upstairs' on a descending escalator at Heathrow Airport (of course I was not making any progress but you should have seen the onlookers and their amusement and my embarrassment!)
Bought a new car and a new house back in 2004. All the stuff was boxed and piled up downstairs and as I went out for school run, it started raining. I jumped in the car hoping that rain water would not get in the car, left the front door wide open (yes in London, the burglary capital of Europe). Luckily the house was neither burgled nor flooded when I returned after more than an hour. You could see my laptop and iMac just sitting across from the street. My local thieves must be very unlucky!
Maybe it's time to revive this old thread? I just heard a new one from a coworker:
Just like yours truly he uses a bike to get himself to work, and he is every bit as absent minded as I am. There is one difference, though: He drops one of his kids off at the kindergarten every morning... Well, almost every morning. :lol: One day apporoaching the plant and already with his mind set on some project here at work, he suddenly heard a tiny voice behind him:
- Um.. Daddy, why are we going this way to the kindergarten today? :confused:
He made a U-turn back to the kindergarten, dropped his heir off and arrived rather later than usual... :rolleyes:
