My name means (Margaret) means "pearl" Kind of dull, but classy in a simple way.
It's old fashioned. This used to irk me, but I grew into it. I like old books, old movies, old music, old people. It's only proper that I have an old name.
You may like to know what I found:
Frances is the feminine form of Francis, which in turn is the English form of the Late Latin name Franciscus which meant "Frenchman". Now, according to one source (free online dictionary), the word French itself comes from Old English Franca, related to Old High German Franko, perhaps from the name of a typical Frankish weapon (in Old English franca means "javelin").
So we could say (maybe) that our Frances is a javelin :D
It would be nice to know the name, if you want to share of course :)
I have had several patients who could not pronounce my name; though it is simple. One day, when two of the ladies were looking perplexed, I told them my name and blew with my lips; they kept blowing and laughing the rest of the day....
Hmmm... so it's a top secret :brow: :D

I used to hate my name. I didn't think it fit me at all, and still don't, except now I usually go by Kate instead of Katrina. I used to think about changing it when I turned eighteen or going by my middle name (Ellen) when I got to college, but I realized my mother would get upset, and it's really not that big of a deal.
Well bangla (the language I speak) IS traced back to sanskrit so you have some point there.
I'm really proud of my name. :D It's a very rare name in Bangladesh. A little less rare in India, I suppose. But it's really difficult to find someone by that name in Bangladesh. And even in India I'm guessing there arent many that share my name.
