NO WAY. Tardis-shaped cookies? THAT IS BRILLIANT.
None of my friends like Doctor Who and they don't see why I'm so...lovey-dovey...about David Tennant. -sigh-

Hey, I'm finally here . For the record, Start Trek fans everywhere, Doctor Who is much better. One, it's British :D and two, it predates Star Trek.
Also, I quite liked Martha as the last companion. Let's face it, she was smarter than Rose. If Rose had been in the hospital instead of Martha I doubt she'd have made the point about the windows not being airtight (I'm trying not to spoil that episode for those who haven't seen it). I've met a couple of fellow Whovians at Uni. and one said that everyone he spoke to didn't think that David Tennant was as good as the earlier doctors. I couldn't agree because I haven't seen any of the episodes predating Christopher Eccleston. I just don't thing they can top what we've got now. Seriously, they used to have the TARDIS on a wire (I may not have seen those episodes but I've seen Doctor Who Confidential :D) and the Daleks, they look like Daleks, sure, they were the Daleks but the ones we have now just look cooler, I think.
As you can guess, I'm kind of cramming in all of the things I would have said had I joined in earlier, now I'm just throwing them all together while I'm in the mood.
In short Doctor Who Rocks and I'll kill anyone who says otherwise :D.
A brief note on Torchwood;
It's okay but it's no Doctor Who.
I haven't begun to see the old episodes, but I will soon. When i have more time.
I love Rose more than Martha I'm afraid. I was surprised too, but Martha seems so sarcastic and I don't know. Yet again, you're speaking with the person who just started crying at the season's end, shocking the guy friends I was watching it with, they ridiculed me for ages!
I do love the new shows too. All that sharp picture and fancy new gadgets.
You do realise baki that Jhn simms wasnt the Doctor and never will be?
I heard a roumer that Tennant quits halfway through next season :bawling:
Although I do want a woman doctor...
think of the fun they could have with that, I mean he was shocked enough when his teeth chnaged but to see th doctor conqure heels?
never going to happen though...
This years Xmas episode was dissapointing though... I hope it not a sign that the end is in sight but I really want to see how he ends up with Donna again next season.
no! david tennant can't quit! He'll be killed by crazed fangirls!
A woman doctor would be awesome indeed. I mean, we already had a gay companion, now we need a girl doctor with GIRL POWER! :D
i missed the x-mas episode :( thanks to my parents, I can't wait to watch it.
As far as I've heard he's not. He's taking two years out to do other things. It's not good for actors to get stuck as one character. So they’ll put the show on hiatus until he goes back, because he’s a great doctor. Anyway, that was the last I heard on the subject.
Sure a girl doctor would be fun to see but it just wouldn't be the same if the Doctor was saving the world in a bra... now there's a weird mental image.
Yes I figured hed quit or do something else soonish or hell just be the 10th doctor for life...which wouldnt be so good.
Just as I start watching the show, they go and change the actor! Well, I've only seen 2 to date....I still prefer Torchwood (which begins next week!)
Next week? I still have 8 epoisodes from last season to watch....
Torchwood. Like I said before, it's good but nowhere near as great as Doctor Who. Speaking of Torchwood, anyone noticed that TORCHWOOD is an anagram for DOCTOR WHO yet?
yeah, that was part of the 2nd or was it 3rd series of Dr who Blue, the one that ended in the battle of Canary warff?
It was also the name of the estate that was destroyed in the time of Queen V, which is why she set up Torchwood to hunt and destroy the Doctor and any other 'unnatural' being.
The second series. The name torchwod appeared in almost every episode somewhere, one way or annother. It's great to play, spot the recurring theme. In the first one it was Bad Wolf, I didn't notice that, then Torchwood, I picked up on that and then Mr Saxon, I spotted practically all of those, having heard the name mentioned in an interview a few weeks prior to series 3.
eh with the Mr Saxon one I caught on waaaaaaaaaaaaay too early John simms gave the game away on the radio or Cbbc ( my sisters watch it) or something and I caught on to the great 'secret' by the 3rd episode... very annoying.
I knew he was Mr Saxon but I had no idea Who He'd become (I'm trying not to spoil it too much for those who haven't seen it yet) Then again how could I have known, I've never seen the earlier ones :).
I dont think he was in the earlier ones, but Like I said Simms gave the game away... by trying too hard to be 'ambiguous' about the plot.
He wasn't, but his character was, in the earlier ones, that I've never seen (I'm referring to his second persona here), though the character of Mr Saxon was mentioned in the second Christmas special, just before they shot down the star, something like "orders from Mr Saxon" or something.
Well, I haven't seen them all either. It was only out of chance that I stumbled upon an episode of Torchwood.
But I've seen the preview for the 1st episode of season 2 (there's only been one right?!)
Yep, I had noticed. What I didn't get is why Dr. Who doesn't really like Torchwood (was mentioned in one of the last episodes last month).
None of my flatmates seem to like either of the two shows...so I'm hoping there's nothing else they want to watch at the same time!
He doesn't like them because of how they were, at Canary Wharf (Seeing as that's the only time he's actualy had any real dealings with Torchwod). If you were an alien would you appreciate being told "if it's alien it's ours" by people who think they're superior to you? It's their fault that the Cybermen leaked into our world because they were messing with things that they didn't really understand. It seemed as if they didn't really care who got hurt unless it was them.
That's what I thought anyway.
Hey all, lost interest in the dear Doctor? With season four over there are some things I should say. First off.
SERIES FOUR WAS GREAT :D :D :D :D :D :D :D, then again, the next season always is .
Also, Donna made a great companion, which leads me onto a question that's been bugging me for ages.
Who is everyone's favourite companion?
I'm now torn between Martha and Donna, one thing I know is that Rose is my least favourite. She was fine at the start, when I had no one to compare her to but afterwards Martha was just so much better than Rose.
this looks like a good time to start season 1 on my netflix! OH! and a jiffy pop will go nicely!
I bet I'm the only one here who saw the very first Doctor Who episode with William Hartnell as The Doctor, travelling with his grand-daughter Susan (now there's a story-line that has been quietly forgotten!) way back in 196-whatever it was. I was an impressionable young thing at the time :D but thought it was not a bad start and despite the wobbly sets and the frequent use of municipal rubbish dumps to represent alien worlds, it could go far.... No, I haven't seen all the rest of the episodes but at some time or another I've seen all the Doctors - can't decide which I liked best, though I think Sylvester McCoy was my least favourite.
As for a female Doctor - well, he has a daughter now, somewhere out there. Dead? Of course she isn't, only until the next series, anyway.
And - I've got a ticket to see David Tennant as Hamlet at Stratford, this year's Gold Dust ticket - looking forward to that!
Strangely, that rings a bell, the Doctor with a granddaughter. I remember seeing something a long time ago, when I was very young, with those two ingredients, along with an alien planet and a note written in chalk on the door which the Doctor missed. That's all I remember of it, I didn't see it all. I know one thing, I certainly didn't exist when it first aired so it must've been repeated for some reason. I've always wondered if that really had been Doctor Who, I guess it was :).
Rose. Without a doubt (from the new eps).
she just....made me cry. Any television character that's real enough to make me cry is something. And she was just so awesome and you know, normal. Martha was way too clingy and (not to offend anyone) kinda dumb. Donna is just kinda boring, she doesn't particularly shine on the screen or anything, she's just,,,boring.
What! How can you call Martha dumb? She was way smarter that Rose. Rose was just there for looks. And I wouldn't call Martha clingy. She fell for the Doctor but she left, she didn't have the idea that they'd travel together forever, I'd say that makes her a lot more mature than Rose too.
And how was Donna boring, she was by far the funniest companion, it was nice to have a companion who didn't fall head over heels for the doctor, because that would start to get boring.
In light of these two Rose was by far the weakest character.
yeah yeah, I'm with my sister. What's so bad about Tate anyway? I keep vacillating between her and Rose as my favorite companion.
Incidentally, who liked Midnight? I thought it was really cool; I love episodes where the doctor isn't quite infallible. Watched 42 recently (Youtube is invaluable :D ) and was on my toes during the whole time!!
You should have kept going, Fifth, she definitely improved as the series went on, became a more rounded character, more understanding and compassionate (which it has always seemed to me is the point of travelling with the Doctor) and grew away from Catherime Tate's other tv persona(s) which I agree are irritating in the extreme! I don't know that she was the best of the companions but she got away from the growing tendency for the companions to fall in love with the Doctor (and for him to fall for them) which makes sense as the companionship cannot last for ever.
Oh, that's a shame. I've watched a couple of episodes from the Catherine Tate show and they're ok...nothing extraordinary but they have some good parts.
I loved Midnight as well! It was a really clever idea for a story and yes, it's interesting to see the doctor in a tight spot!
WHAT???
I'm not a huge fan of Catherine Tate, and must admit that after the Christmas special with her in, I had my doubts, but now think that she is by far the best companion, because she's the only one (recently, I don't know much about the older ones) that appears the doctor's equal. Both Martha and Rose could be a bit drippy at times, but Donna was an amazing feisty character in her own right. And with her in it, there was double the humour; she and David Tennant complimented each other brilliantly.
And what happened to the granddaughter storyline? That's intriguing... I heard a rumour that in the last series it was to be revealed that he had a son, but then the daughter was manufactured...
In the original story, the Doctor had a grand-daughter, Susan Foreman. She caused some curiosity in two of her teachers, Barbara, who taught History and was intrigued by Susan's ability to read very quickly and her claim that a book's account of the French Revolution was incorrect to her certain knowledge because she had been there at the time, and Ian, who taught Science and was puzzled by the new girl's scientific ability. They went to visit her and discovered that her home address was a junk yard with nothing in it except rubbish and an old Police Box. Barbara and Ian were invited inside - and so the stories started. Susan was written out of the series about a year later, when she 'fell in love' with a freedom fighter in the story 'The Dalek Invasion of Earth' and elected to remain behind with him: her place was taken by Vicki who also lasted about a year. Barbara and Ian continued as the Doctor's companions for a couple of series before returning to their own time and being replaced by Peter Purves as Stephen. I don't remember all this, only the first episode with Susan in school, which must have made a considerable impact as it was broadcast in November 1963 - I checked the details on the BBC Doctor Who website! apparently no other members of the Doctor's family have ever made an appearance or even been much mentioned, apart from a favourite uncle.
NOOOOOOOOO!!!! I've heard David Tennant is actually leaving Doctor Who. No no no no no, it's unthinkable. I hope it's not true.
