We cannot exclude authors but, I think, we will exclude those works which have been read during the this year (which I have been trying to do this year anyway) to make sure that the same works don't get voted again and again merely because they are more known/popular than the others.
If any of the authors whose works we have been reading gets nominated this year, you have the option not to vote for them, as always. :)
