Well, anyway, we did vote for East of Eden. We don't have an idea what it is about, but we have met with Woolfs writings and we think we want to challenge unknown monsters who might turn out as giant cute bunny-rabbits (like Frank!)(as opposed to known monsters)
Oh Tal .....
Let's just settle this and everybody change their vote to the Maltese Falcon.
Hmmmmm, I wish that I could change my vote because I looked at a bit of To The Lighthouse and found it boooooooooring. *frowns*
Can we change our vote?
Is it possible to withdraw votes? I'm not going to be joining you during the summer reading poll as I already have to read Ulysses, Brothers Karamazov, and a few more stories for my AP Spanish lit class next year and won't have time for another one. I voted for To the Lighthouse, by the way.
Oh dear....What next....?
Rock,paper,scissors????
Hooyah! I've been wanting to read some Woolf....
Wow, this is turning out into a hum-dinger of a vote. Lighthouse has the edge again. When does this close?
less than 1 hour.. maybe if it's a tie we should get rid of the books with no votes and have a revote that only lasts like a day or two...
Just to answer some of the questions:
- Unfortunately, it is not possible to change or withdraw votes as the software does not accommodate them.
- In case of a tie, I will pick one of the books which gets most votes to read.
Book Club Procedures
Okay then, when do we vote again? :D
UNFAIR!
Where in the rules does it say that Scher gets to pick in the event of a tie?
Well, then, I've got my own summer reading list. :p To you.
I don't understand. So Scheher picks the one with the most votes now? Well that doesn't really make any sense. maybe its, we all have a "day long poll" and which ever one gets most votes this way will be the winner?
still confused...
In case of a tie, I, as the Moderator of the Book Club, pick one of the books which gets the most votes. This has been the practise not only now but since the beginning of the Book Club.
Setting up another poll for another day is not very productive since not all the members will log on to the Forum during that day.
okay then which wins. if its east of eden i may not do the reading and then only 6 people would actually have said they would but.. who wins?
Alright, i think understand....will you choose one book thats not in the tie, that has recieved the most votes? in this case "name of the rose"? which ever one you choose, i am sure we will all agree to read :D
Well, not exactly! :D
Also, if you are short of time at the moment, please don't worry. Summer Reading is for the whole summer, which means we have three months to read and discuss the book.
I was sure Maltese Falcon was gonna win.
How about "To the Lighthouse"? I didn't vote in time, but if I had, it would have broken the tie, putting the above in the lead with 8 - count 'em -, yeah, 8, votes. East of Eden is autumn reading.
except "to the lighthouse" would have been like a month reading, beacuse of its size. East of eden is the better choice because of length. It was a very good book. everyone will enjoy...i think.
Oh yeah, I have just started it, seems like a very good novel!
yes, the land description just pops out at the reader.
