I am glad you will be joining us, Geoffrey. :)
I am rooting for Dubliners or The Portrait because I really don't see myself going through Finnegan's Wake after reading two Faulkner books in a row in one month.

I would like to remind that the votes by members with no posts will be disregarded at the end of the poll.
Why don't we have a 'longer than a month' book? We can read Ullysses in chunks - say 200-300 pages a month, over three months? Then we can really get into it, and it will be worthwhile. We all love literature right? Could start a new thread for it if necessary Schez? All those in favour...?
Just voted and realised everyone is going for the easy options - come on! Let's read a masterpiece!
Thanks for the suggestion;however, this year we are reading a different author every month and they are already chosen by the members/ You can see the list here.Quote:

I suppose one should take vitamin supplements and involve in strenuous crosscountry training to tackle finnegan's wake. Emily is pretty tough on the issue, Hullo beautiful sweet intelligent and just cool Em.Actually you have to get into the mood for any book.
I will have to say Dubliners because I agree with Virgil on the way it can be read.
Does anyone know where I can get an etext of Dubliners online? It looks like it has a good chance to win, but I can’t find it on this site or in my library :(
Here's one:http://www.bibliomania.com/0/0/29/63/frameset.htmlQuote:

Thanks so much Virgil :D
Going once...
Going twice...
Papaya didn't vote. Why not? If you're out there Papaya, you're the deciding vote.
Is today the last day for votes?
You should be able to see the exact date and time it will close at the top of the poll, chmpman :)Quote:

I voted for A Portrait because the story seems to be the most interesting to me. Also I think it would be a good introduction to Joyce, as I haven't read any of his books in full.
On that list of books to read in 06, how is the order determined? The Brothers K and C and P (by Dosteovsky) are books that I wanted to read sometime this summer, when I have the time to focus on them. Can I make the suggestion that they be included this summer sometime?
Only about an hour and a half remaining for voting! The suspense...
Damn!!!!!! I missed it again!!!!!!
