Sancho voted, even though there wasn’t a bawdy limerick in the whole shebang.
OK, the poll will really, truly close at 5 p.m. Central Standard time today. I swear. :D
If not a tie, I like a close race, and it looks like we have one! Woot! Thanks for voting, Gilliatt and Sancho-even if there weren't any limericks.
This poll is now closed.
And the winner of the For Love of a Place poetry contest is

Deep in the forest and under the bridge
Find a boat and ride the river on and on
And eventually you will arrive at a ridge
Overlooking a vast jungle-filled canyon
Get out at the pier and peer all around
Start out toward the imposing mountain
Board a funicular carriage which is bound
To the snowtop, and a natural fountain
Look to the East and you'll see blue sea
Green in the West, different but the same
Grab a snowboard and glide down easily
You find an old mine, but the lode is lame
Been shut down for years due to danger
A little way in a million mushrooms bloom
Pick some but run for it - no park ranger
It's rickety and dusty, and anytime doom
Nearby there's an old abandoned shack
Abandoned by someone, though not by me
It's still standing by magic and hard yakka
Cloaked by oak trees from a distant country
Where is this wonderful place you wonder
Such natural beauty still exists somewhere?
Land of Long Cloud, the islands Down Under
And as in Iceland geisers, and purest of air
You Little Beauty! Bonsa! Ripper! Good on ya mate!
Can I guess? Did Delta write Kiawa Island?
Sorry. I didn't enter this time but I'm cheering on the Aussies Oi Oi Oi!
What the- How the- What the-!?!
Thankyou Qimi and Delta, and everyone who voted for it! :)
They were all of a high standard, and were I able to vote I would have had as tough a time as most of the comments suggest.
Thanks again!
Congratulations my friend! You're poem had such skill. Lovely!
This poem I voted almost without a doubt. I too liked the others, but Mystyr's poem follows a stylistic structure that often appeals to me more than other styles. I can't quite give a plain reason, considering that these days most acclaims often go towards free verse. Maybe the only explanation is that I can never go with the flow. I have nothing against free verse, but I can't help leaning on the fence of artistic rhyming :)
Back to topic, very many congrats Mystyr!! http://smiles.kolobok.us/personal/hi.gif
Congratulations, MystyrMystyry!
Congrats, MystyrMystyry! Can I pick a winner or what!:lol::lol:
Thanks to those who voted for Love of a Place, which was my entry. A tie for third isn't so bad, and I did vote for the winner!
Congrats MystyrMystyry!
It was a wonderful poem. :yesnod:
