Well done everyone, by the way, who managed to write alliterative verses both syllabic and rhyming.
Cleverly calculated, conquering constraints,
coffee cup created, cost cutting complaints.
Just a thought.. Is alliteration on its own enough to determine a passage as poetic?
(Because that's how I approached this)
I do understand alliteration occurring in poetry but in the case where other structural rules are applied, it only seems to be alliterative occasionally.
I can imagine many variations though.
In defense of my potential ineptitude, I did call them 'passages' in the original post :p

It is amazing how long you can keep the technique going. I was trying to make the one I wrote rhyme and have some meter as well.
Here is a link to Paul Deane's site on alliterative meter such as was used in Beowulf.
http://alliteration.net/fieldgd.htm
This is somewhat different from the alliteration used in meters that have a regular repetition of accented and unaccented syllables.

Whoa, that is extremely broad, and very much phonetically oriented.
Luckily I added rules to this 'Alliteration Alphabet Challenge' thread, but more accurately it would be called 'Alliteration-like but restricted and slightly more annoying Alphabet Challenge'.
I wrote one a few days ago which was much looser and and non-restrictive which rolls together so much nicer. I still wonder if alliteration was just an observed occurrence, and does so because words sound much nicer when they alliterate similarly - rather than alliteration being intentionally implemented. With no knowledge of alliteration, people would tend to write alliteratively (sparingly) so readers enjoy the ride(?)

The things that take time take toughness, too. Trying tenaciously, thinking thoroughly, these things touch truth through time that tells.
