What makes you keep coming back?
There are a lot of other literary geeks where I live, but I have made such good friends here, enjoy the discussions, and the diversity of opinions (not to mention the diversity of people). I have been a member here for some years, and I think a lot can be said on the subject of habit; coming here has ended up as somewhat of a routine enjoyment, much like taking the longer road to work, because it is more scenic.
Are you happy with the way things are here?
Sure, but I have always wondered how the place would go with a politics subforum. :D
Which countries have you visited?
I live in the United States, and have visited Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, and I am currently planning a trip to Japan to see a friend.
How do you like your home town?
Portland, a great place to call home.
If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?
I feel comfortable in my current place, but feel open to spontaneity. If I did live somewhere different, I would feel inclined to go outside the U.S.

I suppose what makes everyone happy, the family-friends-a-good-book-freedom-pets-life-love-lust-result-of-hard-work-appreciating-the-small-things-hiking-a-good-song-movies-laughing-traveling thing, and Aristotle thought in Nicomachean Ethics true happiness, according to its full definition, impossible, due to human fickleness, but there have existed a few moments in life, perhaps a flash in a pan, where everything seemed right, and those brief moments are indescribable.
What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?
Politics.

. . . or lack thereof (of both), yes.

I would think it interesting to have an animated movie based upon my life - not restricted to visual creativity. As to who would speak the voice of my character? Someone with a dull, monotonous voice, maybe Ben Stein.

In general, not a lot has changed - reading, writing, hiking, bicycling, reflection, baseball, discussing interesting subjects.

Working in medicine, finishing the composition of a poem or play, crawling between the sheets of a freshly clean bed, hiking or bicycling to the top of a hill.

I have an uncanny ability at boring people.

If I "had" to teach something? Hopefully under voluntary circumstances, I would teach something about medicine - neurology, endocrinology, infectious diseases.

Not fully doing - education.
Not fully being - way too difficult to answer.

What method do you cherish above all others, as means to improving your life?
Open-mindedness comes to mind.

Fortunately, I rarely have to "run to the scene," whether at work or in public, but I always find myself in that role. Even when not at work, I seem to do great at walking out my apartment building door to a bicycle crash (really), being at the restaurant where a guy chokes (seriously), or being at the cafe where a pregnant woman's water breaks (no kidding). The only reason I do not just stay home all of the time is that I do not want the paraglider in cardiopulmonary arrest flying through my living room window.
What one thing would you NEED to have on a deserted island if you didn't have to worry over food and water?
Clothing would come in handy.

Led Zeppelin seems a constant repetition in my head.

Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?
I enjoy the presence of almost everyone here, and would love to meet them, but one can say a lot of the desired and embraced anonymity of this place and its people, and what it/we imply(ies). Relatively few of us have met in real life and even fewer see each other from time to time - why change that, other than for reasons to satisfy curiosity? The everyday anonymity prevents those in my presence from seeing my thoughts I post on the forum almost daily, and the physically distant forumers encounter parts of me people around me will likely never encounter. Though I have met a few fellow forumers, and had a blast, in most cases I choose self-preservation.

I work full-time as a critical care RN, and love it; otherwise, I make a few dollars on the side as a playwright, and love that, too.

When studying literature and creative writing in college, one of the few options seemed teaching - I could have gone with that.

Most people recall me by my bald head; ironic, because before I started shaving my head, many people would remark on my shiny, black hair.

I have no doubt my cats would run out of the burning house with me (if not, them), but otherwise I would take a handmade quilt made for me by my greatgrandmother. She gave it to me precisely 27 years ago. Unfortunately, I do not remember her, because she passed away 2 months later.

Yes, but I forgot them.

Not exactly a "translation mistake," but the responses to American slang tend to really amuse me. I will never forget the facial expressions of the Portuguese couple, when leaving the cafe where I met them, after I said "take care, I'm going to go kill time."

One must always be in pursuit of something.
